So increasing the minimum wage to a livable wage is “socialism”?
But Amazon union busting, keeping wages low, and forcing workers onto public assistance while its founder increases his net worth by $7.9M an hour is the "free market"?
Perhaps this could be a WaPo opinion piece.
I was thinking that perhaps we should just change it to "The Not So United States of America" and just switch to paying state taxes only. But then there is the sticky business of "national security" and energy. Pretty sure we could get the food thing figured out.
I've heard more than one person say recently "I consider myself apolitical" - with a certain degree of resentment. That they have to be a little bit more engaged. I feel the same way trying to take it a step further and wrap my mind around foreign policy. Probably should have started there .
This morning I finished reading @margaretatwood.bsky.social 's The Testament and it was so eerily on point. I came home from a really nice day soaking with a pal and decided I better purchase The Handmaids Tale (while I still can ???). I hate all this fear.
