Data attrs suck for styling.

The scope at-rule means modifier classes can be overloaded. No more prefixing, no more BEM.

1. the C impl was built as a ruby ext instead of standalone. It could be made into a drop-in like oily_png is to chunky_png
2. TypeScript impl was made for browser <canvas>, need to make it work on node/bun/deno
3. in terms of Java, there is no Java. still need to port it over

2 days ago 2 0 1 0

as for the other impls i still have to dig out of the project graveyard:

2 days ago 0 0 1 0

caveats:
1. ruby impl uses the `parallel` gem for concurrency, which means ractor support is rubbish (on 4.0 it'll just crash)
2. rust impl has no concurrency yet. have to make everything use Arc. I have a prototype in the works

also i still need to add .rbs for the ruby impl

Yeah, its just not technically a benchmark ... yet. The bits and pieces are there i just havent got around to packaging them up nicely. Hopefully I can put something together this weekend 🀞

3 days ago 1 0 1 0

Also I have a raytracer implemented identically in Ruby, C/C++, and JS (and it'd be trivial to add Java, too) to use as a fun benchmark for comparison :P

Would it work seamlessly with JRuby? As in, would it work as a free performance boost by just adding RBS? Or would it have to be a separate compile step?

I really want to get an EV, but I live in south africa which has absolutely dogshit electricity, and I dont have nearly enough roof space to keep the house on AND charge an EV on solar. Plus, the EV market is rubbish here, second hand EVs are rare and max 1yr old. Best I can hope for is a hybrid :/

And the next jump is supposed to be 8k? Absolute waste of pixels. Do none of these people know basic math?

1 month ago 1 0 1 0

4k was a mistake. A thoughtless jump from 1080p that did not line up with the prevailing progression from 720p. TVs should have gone to 1440p/QHD first. But that apparently didn't roll off the tongue so now we're stuck with as yet unreasonable hardware requirements and mediocre upscaling at best.

We used to call them "stiffy disks", or just "stiffies", to differentiate them from 5 1/4" floppies

An image of a raven standing on a table, an ink pot sitting next to it half-full of dark ink. The raven looks to the left, though its body faces right. There is a light rainbow gradient as a background, and in the top left corner are these words:

"To celebrate reaching 1k followers, we're hosting a creation share! No AI. Share this post. Label N S F W. Comment on others' creations. Use alt-text on all images."

Crackhead keyboard with pink ducky zero keycaps, and one random black right control key.

Crackhead keyboard with pink ducky zero keycaps, and one random black right control key.

I found some keycaps. They're not the original keychrons, and I was still missing a ctrl key. I think it just adds to the whole hodge podge nature of it.

Now I need to remember where I put those keycaps...

The USB port of the crackhead keyboard. It's a hole very roughly cut out of the plastic and metal casing.

The crackhead keyboard is complete! I had to completely rewire the controller since it wasn't going to fit as it was. Finally managed to screw it all together after brutally shredding a hole for the USB port.

Text on a rainbow backdrop. To the right of the text is a graphic showing three stalls marked 'you', with arrows connecting them to the stylized logo of Conjured Ink.

The text reads:

We at Conjured Ink are working to provide a user-controlled "bazaar" that is censorship-resistant.
That means for creatives, you'll be able to make customizable "market stalls" to share and sell your works.
For buyers, you'll be able to support your favorite creators free from the stress of blanket bans.

Conjured Ink is a community of creatives, developers, and supporters building software, support structures, and curated documentation to make it easy for people who make things to be able to share it or sell it independently, without relying exclusively on large platforms.

I’m sorry but let me unbury this lede: *the genAI industry is literally the financial engine that is powering the fascist regime in the United States*

I hadn’t even made this connection and now I’m even more horrified by this tech than I have ever been.

Boosterism == fascism, literally

I've never _not_ seen border-box inherit, and none of the cases ever used content-box anywhere. I think I'll bring this up with my team.

On another note, do you think "stretch" size will even make border-box unnecessary?
