The first of 5 beasties i was commissioned, the Albino Behir. The idea behind this ragged beast is that it's a long imprisoned, sickly and bone white Behir, who are already dangerous in their own right. It is kept behind magically electrified gates and is only seen when it's due to fight. It is incredibly big for its species, powerful, but mad with hunger and from years of mistreatment. Behir in DnD lore were originally bred to fight dragons, and were popular in many cultures as extravagant pets, especially to giants and the extremely wealthy. This was a real challenge to get correct to the brief, as the behir is a total freak in terms of shape and design. The commissioner wanted it to be more armoured, so I went for a crocodile base model, with its thick scales being ideal for the beast, and then added in as many legs as needed! Overall i think the design came out pretty well, and the composition is fluid. It was the first big full size paitning id done in years, and it still makes me want to do some more of them :) Hope you like him!

Creature Concept: Northern Dragon Digital artwork of a white dragon sitting up on a snowy tundra plain. Black rocks litter the ground, and grey clouds cover the skies, which are grey with blizzard clouds. Beneath the dragon's front claw is a human skull. The dragon has folded pterodactyl-like wings with hairy claws for fingers. Its back legs are also fluffy, and look much like the talons of a snowy owl. 3 horns grow from the dragon's head; 2 short ones from the back, and 1 longer, forked one from the center. Creature Concept: Southern Quilled Seraph (fictional avianoid) Digitally drawn concept art of a bird-like monster design. The creature faces right on a dark plane. It is sitting with its wings partially folded, but still somewhat slack. Its long tail twists upwards behind it. Its beak and two-toed feet are yellow in color, and its eyes are bright green. Most of the feathers on its body are a warm grey shade, with a broad red stripe down its back and tail. Additionally, there is a large patch of red in the center of itis chest. Its wing feathers, as well as some scattered feathers across its body, are a shiny iridescent black. It has a bright red wattle on the underside of its head, which is patterned with black markings. Porcupine-like quills sprout from beneath the feathers on the monster's back, as well as the backs of its wings. Along its twisted tail there are 3 more (shorter) wing-like appendages. The head has two pairs of eyes; one is large, and located on the side of the head, and the other is small, and faces forwards from a hole on the from side of the beak. The beak is toothed, like a goose's beak, as is the animal's tongue. The beak also has a large Smilodon-like fang growth on each side. On the bottom half of the beak, a patterned crest sprouts and curves backwards between the fangs. Above the front pair of eyes on the beak, there are hornbill-like growths that shade the eyes.
