of course, how were they to know of the full turmoil in Alabasta and how it was ridden with Baroque Works agents? all the worse for Star, when they meet a man with fantastic wax manipulation powers...👀🕯️

armed with very little sailing knowledge and a stolen Log Pose, the exhausted and terrified 'crew' make their way to Alabasta, hoping the people there could somehow help them home 💔

however, the craftspeople staged a coup when the pirates docked at Little Garden. they tricked the pirates into leaving the ship by feigning illness, and when the opportunity arose, took the ship for themselves!!

the 'genius' plan of these pirates was to force Star and the others into servitude, making high-quality goods that they could sell to different islands and reap the rewards themselves.

this version of Star originally made and sold artisanal candles in Loguetown!! however, they and a number of fellow craftspeople were abducted by a band of opportunistic pirates sailing for the Grand Line.

there were many professions i could have chosen for my One Piece self-insert: a butcher, a baker...but who better to ship with Mr. 3 than a candlestick maker? 🫠🕯️💖 (backstory below!!)

this is reminding me of that person who kept having their cereal carried off by ants. turns out it had oleic acid in it, which smells like dead ants - that's how ants know to carry off their dead!! is it an olive oil-type shower gel?
