Watching Occupation:Rainfall on Prime Video and pleasantly surprised by both how well lit it is and how well mixed sound is. Clear speaking and sound effects. At 52mins in the darkest night scene is still brighter than a number of big budget movies day scenes I’ve watched in the last decade👏

Dark background with Gold writing saying Happy New Year 2025 in the centre and surrounded by gold fireworks around it.
My reading streak 189 weeks in a row. 830 days in a row. 3.3 years I haven’t broken missed a full week of reading. 2.2 years since I missed a full day by minutes on either side. My goals are a page of reading or a few minutes of listening each day.
Happy New Year! May 2025 be great in whatever way you need it to be.
My reading streak continues with 189 weeks in a row. 830 days in a row. That’s 3.3 years I haven’t broken missed a full week of reading. 2.2 years since I missed a full day by minutes on either side.
All reading is reading.
I sometimes get stuck in a *fun* loop with variations of “you’re pregnant I won’t sell this to you” and me responding “I’m definitely not pregnant” for at least ten minutes. I appreciate their diligence but this isn’t the way.
I can still remember bits of one I read when I was 8 (32 years ago) was lovely, based in Venice during carnival (maybe 1700s?) and helped shape my love for history & period films, tv, & books. I skipped over any inappropriate lovey dovey bits & pulled out the encyclopaedia + atlas when I got home.
As a fairly prolific reader I assume I’m the problem not the author. That I’m not in the right headspace to be reading the book and I’ll come back to it when I’m in the right mindset for it. I can have 3-4 books going at one time as I switch between depending on how I’m receiving it at that time.
Yes. Queensland, Australia. So did my kids aged 20-14.
Mejhiren’s Hunger Games FF “When the Moon Fell In Love With The Sun” 362k words sadly unfinished but I reread a few times a year just to live in her vivid cosy world for a moment.
The day I missed it I stopped reading at 11:57pm the first day, had a super busy second day fell asleep as soon as my head hit the pillow but woke up in the middle of the night and picked it up again on the third day at about 2:30am. I was so mad when I realised a few days later.
That’s fantastic!
I make my own goals as I found the challenges too restrictive on how I enjoy reading.
Yes to all the reading! Love physical books but audiobooks are fantastic for doing activities, for commuting and big trips, the kids listen while colouring in, ebooks so I can read at 2am and not disturb anybody with the light. Also I don’t have the space for over 7.5k books otherwise.
@purrinink.bsky.social if you don’t follow them you should
Hoping this counts I send most of the purr.in.ink to my teens who are social media averse.
Frequently. It’s the only way to read, if a book gets bit too intense or I don’t want it to end I just pick up the other book.
Sharing my love of reading in a different metric than I usually see shared. My current reading streak of days and weeks. 3.5 years since I missed reading for a week. 2.1 years since I missed a day.
I aim for a couple of pages a night.
