Amazed to see a Bottlenose Dolphin close in off Castletown, Portland Harbour this AM - it was so faithful to the same pair of buoys I thought it might be entangled but it did move away, leading me to the scientific conclusion it was maybe just arsing around? @tombrereton.bsky.social

It's #FunFactFriday! Did you know that Beaked Whales are one of the most mysterious groups in the cetacean world? Though there are at least 24 species, only 4 are reasonably well studied. The group as a whole is quite widespread, ranging from the ice edges of both poles all the way to the equator.
