Time to run... to the Oregon Historical Society to pick up a copy of this fabulous book on Steve Prefontaine ("Pre"). Love a good book talk. @Brendan O'Meara

Book cover in teal with yellow script: The Intern Family Systems Workbook: A guide to discover your self and heal your parts by Richard C. Schwartz, PhD Above the book is a brown colored mug holding an espresso beverage with leaf foam art. Fork and knife to the left.
Diner style plate of eggs benedict, side of sausage links, and a small green salad.
Portland, Oregon Central Library front entrance. Front of large 3-story brick and masonry block gothic-style building. Concrete steps with bronze railings in front of arched vestibules in front of large wooden double doorways.
Blue and white plastic Multnomah County Library card. Blue, white, and green sticker that says "I got my library card today!" surrounded by confetti. Bookmark with "Rose City Reads" at the top and a drawing of a girl reading while sitting on top of a large stack of books.
Today is a good day in PDX. Overcast skies have cooled the summer heat (sadly also a bit muggy). A diner I wanted to check out is conveniently located right behind the Central Library, so I managed to pick up my new card AND get some work done. Happy read... uh, Friday!

Ooowww... totally checking that out!! Thanks!
I didn't know they made a movie? show? based on it!? Does it have an ending... or does it end like the book?
Yes... charming, maybe? ๐ค Yeah, I'm still debating whether I liked it. Thankfully, it was short. ๐
Got this is a mystery date with a book pack from a garage sale (best $3 I've spent in a while). Very quick, fun, frustrating read. I love King's non-horror books. One of my favorite books ever is his 11/22/63. Phenomenal book! Wish there were more like that. This was fun, though.

Car show season means I get to read in different places many weekends. Today's reading place was @14 Acres Vineyard & Winery in Ridgefield, WA for the AMC Rendezvous. Book of choice was The House in the Cerulean Sea by TJ Klune. A longtime TBR. Enjoying it so far.

Right!? We stopped in at the Mexican grocery behind the bookstore and grabbed snacks and drinks before heading back to the trees and pool to read our new books. It was kind of a perfect day.
Indeed. โค๏ธ
I was as well. I reread it as an adult in an attempt to read more classics. Between it and The Jungle, I was thoroughly impressed and disappointed that I didn't get it in HS.
Grapes of Wrath. It's a classic and should be read and/or reread by all as a reminder of our humanity - or potential for the lack thereof.
Phew... been a busy month trying to get reports done and some projects. Got a chance to read a book today, though. Fun, quick read while chilling in the forest around Bend, OR. Obligatory stop in at the last Blockbuster and an awesome little bookstore. #goodday

So, we did a thing yesterday. Her name is Rosemary (aka Rosie ๐ช). We are very much in love. โค๏ธ๐น She snorts funny and our other dog feels very dejected... but we're hopeful they'll be the greatest of friends soon. ๐ ๐ค

I heard rumors once of a literary cruise... I think that could be fun. I would love to visit one of the booktowns. Like Hay-on-Wye, Wales or Montolieu, France... or Wigtown, Scotland during their literary festival. ๐
The end of the Oregon legislative session is severely cutting into my "fun reads" reading time and thoughtful posting... so please enjoy the memes while I muddle through the next two weeks. ๐ thank you

Oh yay!!! Great review! Might need to check that one out... sounds like something I could use to read. ๐๐ So glad you jumped in and did it!! *sigh* sad for my TBR list. ๐๐
After I read my first Larson book (Splendid and the Vile), I binged all his others immediately. I adore his writing. I fully understand where your husband is at. ๐
I think maybe that's why I'm struggling... too close to home at the moment. I'm enjoying it, I think my brain is just seeking an escape from reality a bit more. ๐คช
I love this community!! Y'all are amazing. Just look at the responses. So many genres. So many different views, worlds, and places to get lost and find yourself. Such an assortment of adventures to dive into. I'm just in awe... scrolled and scrolled and saw few titles I knew.

Still trying to get thru "The Demon of Unrest." I love Larson and I'm enjoying the book, but can't stick with it for some reason. I'll get there. Also reading "The Claiming of Sleeping Beauty" by Anne Rice (phew lordy), and listening to "The Four Winds" by Hannah (Grapes of Wrath-esc... loving it).
This. This is the way.
Please!!! Do it!!! It's exhausting reading the same reviews of the same books over and over. Write about what you are reading so that we can all gain some new books for our TBRs. ๐๐๐ Please! I'm begging of you. (Like I need more books for my TBR ... but whatever, not the point.)
