There's even TTSs out there that actors have made, which are totally ethical (in terms of the technology, I can't speak for any potential contracts).

Standard TTSs are still fine, they don't use the genai methods. I'm not quite as knowledgeable on the traditional vocal synthing. With standard TTS you can make one that uses your voice, using the same methods current ones do by recording the sounds. I've even seen one streamer do it.

Also to add to it, what many people don't know is that in order to train the tech to be able to sound like people who were paid for their voice, still required millions of data sources to get to that point, something that can't be done from scratch. The base layer is created unethically.

To an extent. While compensation is good it often is peanuts to what they rightfully should have received, plus contracts often add use cases that go out of the actor's control. Voice synthing isn't new tech but what we're seeing today is built on the same base as image generation.

I often just have to assume that when I see a streamer who is against genAI but has a 'tts' that uses their voice is that they must not realize that that too is genAI.

I know it seems neat but, it really is the same thing.

hey it's finally back

Sorry for the abrupt stream end. Internet went out and has yet to come back. Thanks to all hwho came and hung out. Hopefully back tomorrow!

Now that I'm not in as much of a rush I can finally sit down and learn more of the ins and outs of blender when it comes to vrc modeling. And eventually tackle the unity side of it.
Last week was shotgun blast learning to get a base quickly modified and working.

I think what's doing my head in right now is I can see the moon outside my window, and there are humans within my line of site (behind the moon inclusive)

I went back to that world and yeah there's some serious z fighting going on when the lighting changing a lot. In hand and hoof mode. I'll have to sus out how to fix it if it's in unity or blender

vrchat model affected by the lights of a club world, causing the lighting on the shoulder polys be the wrong color

First time stepping out with this model, everything was totally fine until I got to where the lights were very dynamic and my shoulders revealed an issue. Not sure if a z fighting issue or normals or what. Any knowers out there?

It's edited from a base. So the texture is customized along with changing parts of the hair model. One day I hope to build from scratch but this is my starting point ^^

Definitely need to fix up some stuff and customize the main a bit more. But not bad having never done it before.
