Its interesting to hear your perspective. An academic friend of mine said they did their article and then did the talk so I always thought if I did it that way I’d be doing it wrong somehow. But now I know it’s a legit way! So thanks again for sharing

Solidarity with you! Thanks for sharing, I also have a block, and in fact have never submitted an article to a journal 😱 just a few chapters in books…🖤
Today is #InternationalRomaDay ! If you are unclear on Roma history and their lived experience I *highly* recommend The Roma: A Travelling History by @madelinepotter.bsky.social . This book is joyous and personal and political. #InternationalRomaniDay 💛
For what it’s worth, I did wonder 👀
In total fairness, although I loathe him, I think this party needs Branwell Brontë.
Myself and Lucy Westenra just pushed in to sit next to Mina Harker. We’re talking over Charles Darwin to get the attention of Anne Brontë and playing the audience for Sarah Bernhardt. Charles Dickens hasn’t arrived yet to give a recital, but by the time he does all of us girls will be drunk.
Reflecting right now on what sadist set Dombey & Son AND Wives & Daughters on a Y2 undergraduate module on my BA? Alongside others on a week by week basis.
I mean I read them, but what on earth, no one would try that these days
All to say, I’m thinking now of rereading Dombey.
I am writing again and it feels good 🖤
Thanks for sharing this, when you see it visually it really brings that point to life.

This one is sort of luring me in! Looking forward to your vid and the next session. Thanks for doing this 🖤
“Joy is as restless as anxiety or sorrow.”
A Sicilian Romance, Ann Radcliffe.
Enjoying reading her second work (for the first time) as part of @romgothsam.bsky.social ‘s amazing course on Radcliffe. 🖤

At Haworth Parsonage there are badges with ‘Team Branwell’ on, and it’s like why? Give me one single reason why.
They talk to each other too and look after each other. This blew my mind when I found this out
Ah that’s so helpful to know! Thanks
Any chance of the video being uploaded soon? Would love to watch before submitting this week
“Frankenstein outsold all Percy’s work in his lifetime”
To all agents, presses, prizes and any other gatekeepers of creativity; if you are as inclusive as your EDI statement suggests, you need to make submissions anonymous. You don’t need a bio to tell you if you believe in the work. Lack of anonymity risks unconscious bias. See below for best practice
I’m maybe a bit too much me and could do with taking a bit of a step back
Will have a look at By the Ionian Sea, it’s quite well regarded I think. Jubilee I read and enjoyed a lot, especially as I know the areas he describes eg Camberwell 🖤
On her deathbed, to her husband, Charlotte Brontë referring to God in saying “Oh, I am not going to die, am I? He will not separate us. We have been so happy.”
Most tragic but beautiful thing to say possible 🖤
If you are looking for gothic romance this Valentine’s Day, this is a great place to start 🖤
For some reason even more funny that he sent messages like this to different people
Please
A lot of you are using "performative" to mean "as lip service" and the phrase lip service exists for that purpose.
My favourite Dickens 📘📕📗
I feel like something that rarely gets brought up in Wuthering Heights discourse is that it’s the most beautifully written novel of the century. More like a prose poem with characters than any other novel of the period.
