This is all part of a dismantlement of gay and women's rights in the UK. You can see how the EHRC was stacked with transphobes, and now we can see the same process beginning in Stonewall. Trans rights are small potatoes, they want a repeal of marriage equality and criminalisation of abortion.
I believe she knows well who Rowling, Nicholson and Farrow are, and that she has decided to make Stonewall into an "acceptable gays" organisation. If you're happy being an "acceptable gay," then, fire away and give them as much money as you like, and see how that works out.
Now, I don't believe that Kezia Dugdale, the newly appointed chair, is stupid or uninformed to the point that she doesn't know this stuff. If she has to be made aware of these facts, then she has no business leading an LGBT+ org. The basic competency there should be "know your enemy."
Look up Caroline Farrow, a Catholic activist. Her opposition to gay rights is to extreme that she had a problem with a same-sex penguin couple at a zoo. And, again, you can find Rowling tweeting "Big Love To You XXX" at Caroline Farrow five years ago.
This isn't difficult stuff to grasp. Rowling is best friends with Emma Nicholson, and she started her Lumos charity with her. Look up "Baroness" Emma Nicholson's history on gay rights. She was protested on her own lawn by a lesbian activist group, and is still against marriage equality today.
There will never be an "acceptable gay" or "acceptable trans" movement that works. The Mattachine Society tried that with gay people back in the 1950s, and they failed, because Rowling et al fundamentally disagree with people being LGBT+, no matter what type of LGBT+ they are.
Rowling is an horrendous bigot who 6 years ago wrote an essay where she praised a woman who called trans people "pathetic, sick fucks." Rowling wants an end to all provisions for trans people, and to have them driven from society. Any LGBT+ org that doesn't get that are the enemy.
Praising JK Rowling when asked a question on trans rights is akin to praising Anita Bryant when asked a question gay rights. No money to Stonewall. No Stonewall at Pride. They are already experiencing a funding crisis, and this chairwoman appointment should be their last. Traitors.
Middle-aged, middle-class creatives who bang on about the importance of free speech don't actually want free speech. They want the right to say what they like about minorities without any consequences. They would fully support imprisonment of those who protest their appearances at universities etc.

Another thing that is also remarkable is the "saviour" complex that comes along with bigotry.
Look around, every hate movement casts themselves as people trying to "save" or "protect" a vulnerable cohort.

For some people, it's simply not enough that they make a personal decision for themselves (i.e. to live with their gender dysphoria, and not transition), they deeply need that decision to be validated by others, ergo, desperately seeking subjects to validate it. 9/
