My statement stands, however, I'll add... agreed... 'helluvan' for vowel-leading words, but 'helluva' for non vowel-leading words... "helluvan epic battle" and "helluva good battle"...

I'd venture to say 'a helluva' instead of 'an helluva'... since the base word would be 'a hell', not 'an hell'...

However, 'elluva, lacking any emphasis on the 'h', would, in fact, be "an 'elluva"

Also: I'm completely glossing over your second sentence XD
