So many questions regarding this decision.
There is public use and there are private water rights holders (agriculture.) They already are only receiving an average of 28% of water that is promised in their contracts. Do they have the need for all this water at once? Do they have the storage? They get water today, WHAT ABOUT TOMORROW?
Will the snowpack and upcoming rainfall be enough to replenish what was taken? Was this timed correctly to account for melting snowfall? Will we lose more water to run off? How will animals dependent on the water as habitat be impacted? This is dangerous and careless.
Trump has ordered water to flow at one facility and it is causing problems for future water needs in CA. He doesn’t understand how CA water works and he is ignoring the Endangered Species Act. I don’t see anyone talking about this.
