Menโs outfits. The desert climate and a non-flying lifestyle have dressed the Harpies in more covered garments.
Women's outfits. Alongside long dresses (entari), shalwar, and sashes, the absence of turbans is striking. In the women's wardrobe, they have been replaced by a headdress called the hotoz.

A local page from the christian town of Debel mention that the statue belongs to them
The page remarked:

This stuff back in the 1100s would have been enough to declare a crusade ๐ญ
It's sad stuff like this goes unpunished.
We need a new Pope Urban II.

I came across a peculiar slime while exploring secrets locked away in Zeskra vaults, a sudden urge to pleasure myself with it overwhelmed my senses. I gave in of course...

Oh, on a closer look...
It seems to even show the church of Santa Reparata!!!
The cathedral was built by progressively demolishing the older church, starting from the facade.
So I imagine that's what's visible behind the half finished facade
Holy fuck, I had no idea that the unfinished facade was shown on the painting at the loggia del Bigallo!!!!
That's peak.
And I learnt something new about the loggia del Bigallo yay
And I'm happy to see museums in the past few decades give more and more importante to the context of the stuff they have on display.
Oh? I haven't seen the reply my bad!
I'll take a look ๐
And aw it's a shame you missed it.
I LOVE that those statues are not "randomly thrown in an art gallery", but they're contextualised in the recreated facade.
It's so much better
I didn't know that about Barcelona, but now i'm sad ๐ญ
I realise that, obviously, this is part of the expression of socio-cultural ideals of the time. It's not inherently evil, or bad. It actually has its own historical value now.
But still a bit sad that original medieval stuff has been lost
Interestingly tho, for the cathedral of Florence, the coloruful architectural decorations at the sides are actually original medieval.
The facade was the only thing left unfinished (as well as 7 of the 8 sides of the dome's tambour/drum)
Interestingly, for the Cathedral's facade, we actually had it partially built in the 1300s, until it was dismantled.
Today, it survives in the "Museo dell'opera" in Florence, where with the original statues, the original facade was reassembled.
The same happened to Florence's Santa Croce church.
Late 1800s
As a Florentine myself I have absolute HATRED for what they did to my city after it became Italy's capital for a few years ๐ญ๐ญ
Entire medieval neighbourhoods demolished, alongside most of the city walls.
So much has been lost.
And the neo-gothic facade of the cathedral isn't the only example:

Should I make an exclusively sfw account, I wonder?
Where I can yap about history and archaeology stuff too if anyone's interested?
I've been tempted to try to come out of my shyness and test the water at archaeological divulgation :D
