@hacksandwonks.bsky.social thinking of you as you both heal and recover. When life is lifing, Iโm glad you are taking the time you need to care for yourselves.
Highlight of the show for me: AG Broen has protected $15 billion in federal funds for WA state through various suits and legal actions. Impressive and deeply impactful. Talk about a return on investment.

When is the Republican Party going to stop covering for a greedy and cruel child rapist?
I heard it too. Some groups that previously might have been at odds are finding common ground. Sorry I missed saying hi! It would have been nice to see each other face to face.
Itโs not subtle
Some inspiration for Bothell homeowners now that neighborhood scale retail is allowed (and encouraged) in Bothell!

Yes I am unapologetically bragging about one of my cities again. Bothell is leading the way on creating a walkable, affordable and vibrant community.
Bothell leads the way! @masonthompson.bsky.social, @jennealderks.bsky.social, @doddzilla.bsky.social, @ramiok.bsky.social, @carstonc.bsky.social are all showing the rest of us in the Puget Sound region how local government should respond to the housing crisis -- and build better communities.
The Bothell City Council just voted 5-1 to drop all minimum off-street parking requirements at the same time that they approved the legalization of neighborhood cafes and corner stores everywhere in the city.

Before too long when we have events in downtown Bothell we'll just be able to put up bollards โค๏ธ
Bothell is already The Cat's Pajamas due to the work of its fearless and visionary City Council, but in like, 10ish years when stuff is built it's going to be really amazing. Since they moved 522, it's been cool to see it grow.
Moms only want one thing for Motherโs Day, and itโs safe bike infrastructure.

In Bothell, the two councilmembers who voted against a resolution explicitly spelling out the city's support for LGBTQIA+ people last month have both declined to file for re-election.
Sometimes the only way through is to create public value in the face of trauma and pain.
Iโm proud of the work North King County Cities have done in Washington (Bothell, Kenmore, Lake Forest Park, Shoreline & Kirkland) to build out the crisis continuum of care.

That is an option with the climate action plan for the City of Bothell. City Hall also has charging stations in the parking garage for folks parking in downtown.
The text of the resolution that was adopted is on page 185 of this agenda packet:

Never again is now.
I hope we see you again! The process works better when people participate in it. Thank you for being there, for speaking up and adding some color to the meeting.
We have two progressives who have filed for those seats. @brittmiles.bsky.social in seat 5 is on Bksy!
Last night Bothell City Council passed a resolution (5-2) to proactively protect the civil rights of trans and gender diverse people at a time when those rights are under attack. The community showed up in support too. The photo shows the reaction in the room when the vote was finalized.
With a policy like this, 40-60% more housing can be built, so we can prioritize housing people over housing cars. Thanks Rep Duerr, the local gov committee and 64 house members for passing this bill!
Deal.
Thatโs exactly what Bothell is doingโpreserving forests, reclaiming and restoring habitat and strengthening our urban forestry plan. Iโm opposed to pitting people against things because itโs a fallacy. We can and should have both!
