Sometimes I'll unlock my phone and idly press buttons before realizing it's force of habit that makes me press buttons to see a little notification symbol. And this has been engrained in me since 2009 deviantart comments/notes lot up the inbox, it's just now I have a phone on me at all times

The Shallows (2011) gets into some of the history of the computer as a tool for word processing/typing, but I recommend it in general for the parts on habits, attention spans, and the endless stream of information we're assaulted with every time we turn on our devices.
