I think you’re right to anticipate tangling. Plus when a fish takes that first fly you have all that extra line with two more points to hook the fish elsewhere. Sounds like a bird’s nest waiting to happen.

Yeah I can see that playing out for sure. I’ve never fished one. I’ve read articles detailing three-fly rigs tied big streamer >> small streamer >> nymph, and I’m like “wtf?” On a slightly different note, what gets me is stores selling Rapalas with 3 treble hooks when the regs state no more than 2.

I like it a lot. It seems to be pretty accurate, and it allows for a quick measurement without having to handle the fish. It can be difficult sometimes to get the fish to cooperate and lie flat for the photo, but I’m getting better results after having used it a few times.
