Such a good movie! And if you're into folklory, cryptid sort of things, I really enjoyed Kryptic as well.

The cinematography in Kryptic (2024) is just fantastic. Coupled with the haunting score, it's a perfect movie to just zone out with and appreciate. I was in the mood for something slow and somber and it hit just the spot.
The ending to The Home is probably one of the most satisfying things I have seen in a long time. I genuinely cheered.
And finally, this... I mean, look at it? It's heckin' gorgeous and looks so crunchy. I needed it in my life. Thysiastery (this time with the correct trailer) youtu.be/nZhNB-yWLvk
This is a wildcard that was suggested to me via Islands of the Caliph and I've been on a nostalgic bend lately so I figured why not! Ringlorn Saga

This looks like a crunchy sci-fi game from early PC and that's entirely up my alley. Anything to get that nostalgia flowing. Star Explorers

I adore weird and unique horror games and this ticks all the boxes. I don't even remember when I added this to my wishlist but it was a long time ago. Aberration Analyst

Played the demo of this some time back and was captivated. So yeah, it ended up in my cart. Cyclopean: The Great Abyss

This ended up on my list many years ago but I finally pulled the trigger: Islands of the Caliph

Yesterday I bought a ton of games that all look crunchy and delicious. It doesn't matter if I ever get around to actually playing them, I'm just happy to to have given money to something worthwhile. Here's the list plus trailers! These are all games that I've wanted for a while plus a wildcard.

I decided to make a video celebrating Irish games and discussing the importance of game funding both back home & abroad.

I'm done. This world. I swear to superior beings...
All in all, really enjoyed Changeman and out of the series I've seen so far of the old shows, this is definitely my favorite.
But the show can never quite get beyond its monster of the week-format. When it would have done them a world of good to just forget that trope and focus on the plot, they still have to shoehorn in a MOTW whether it fit or not.
I won't spoil specifics but you can really tell that they were inspired by a certain plotline in Dynaman and wanted to tap into more of that anime inspired drama.
It's rare to see a show so hellbent on telling a story and being so hampered by its format. These last ten or twenty episodes suddenly began pushing redemption arcs for many villains. And plotlines from way... WAY earlier suddenly resurfaced with force.
So I finished Changeman and I gotta say, it was a weird trip. #changeman #tokusatsu #supersentai
Oh noooo, I tripped and fell. How unfortunate... oh no, my pants are falling off...
Good luck with the writing! Love this subgenre so if you have any other suggestions, would love to hear them!
Cover to return the rose, the first Beautiful Beasts book. Colored in monochrome purple, a large beast with a lion-like face and stag antlers embraces a partially undressed woman with long flowing hair. She clutches onto his antlers, wistfully looking at her lover, the beast. Tropes: beauty and the beast, romance in the rain, preferring the beast, broken beds, romantic scars, prisoner to lover, magical genetalia, predator role play, sapphic experiment.
Cover to Cove of the Fisherman's wife. Colored in monochrome blue, a Japanese woman looks upon the encroaching octopus arms. Her yukata is partially removed, as a lone tear runs down her cheek. Tropes: consensual tentacles, sengoku jidai era japan, octopus yokai, literal foxy lady, brutal revenge, evil ronin, slightly benevolent monster, secret sex worker, protective surrogate mother.
Cover to Beautiful Beasts 3, The Nightstalker’s Mark, by Joahim Heijndermans. Two women coated in a red colored hue hold each other in embrace, looking at one another. One a short haired blind woman with a tank top. The other is a vampiric creature who is nude, her ears pointed and the pupils in her eyes are narrow slits like those of a serpent. Her open mouth reveals a set of fangs, her intent implied to be nefarious. The title of the book is colored with a yellow gradient, with the ‘M’ in Mark similar to a set of fangs. Small dots of Braille writing repeat the title, a reference to the one woman’s blindness. Tropes: vampire smut, blood drinking, mind control, shape changing, lgbtq romance, emotional abuse, vampire violence, disability & blindness
To alleviate some medical costs, I've put all my Beautiful Beasts #books in a bundle. Get ALL three smutty monster books for the low price of $8 and help me hit the goal.

Even Tsurugi, who is supposed to be the leading man (Red) gets painfully sidelined for Hayate. It reminds me a lot of what happened with Akira in Gorenger and Ryu in Dynaman.
As for the changing men themselves, it's pretty clear who the favorite is (Hayate) and who the ugly duckling is (Sayaka), at least in terms of focus episodes. I've always been curious how they decide who will get the focus episodes.
Not a lot of depth, mind you, but the introduction of a wife or crushing loneliness does make them at least two dimensional, even if they're not exactly three dimensional.
Though it's definitely fallen into a more plodding, monster of the week-pace at the midpoint, it does continually touch on interesting concepts in its plots. Even the villains get a little spotlight episode here and there which gives them a bit more depth.
Out of the 9 OG Super Sentai series I've seen so far, Changeman is by far my favorite. And by a pretty wide margin too. #changeman #supersentai #tokusatau
I'm rereading what I already wrote so I don't repeat myself too much.
It's been more than half a year since I last watched Changeman but as darkness closes the year, it felt like a good moment to return to it. So hold on to your butts. #supersentai #tokusatsu #changeman
