Your first Laika art was what started it all for me, so seeing a new one feels like a legit morale boost 🙏

They never meant for you to return
I see a lot of people I know who have been supportive of Trump now saying “the man is crazy. He must be removed.”
Glad you’re on board.
Every voice raised against him is needed.
But I won’t ever forget how much you were ok with; how much you were willing to ignore and how long you sat silently.
"It won't stop here"
Fucking GOOD

Version without dialogue
And yes, she would've absolutely LOVED Project Hail Mary too
Laika giving a proud salute with her back turned to the viewer, as she watches the Artemis II module return to Earth over the ocean. Her dialogue reads "As you Americans like to say these days: Amaze, amaze, amaze!"
New art!
If Laika were alive to witness the Artemis II mission, she would be one of the proudest dogs on earth 🚀

If this experiment works, it could speed up the whole process considerably, and maybe even put me back on schedule sooner or later. Here's hoping 🤞

Been making steady-ish progress on the next scene. I'm already 15 frames deep into it so far, thanks to some experimenting with an app called EasyPose. I've already been using it for years to help with anatomy references, but now I'm seeing if I can make some rough drafts outright with it
man i cannot stress how much this entire mission has been a fucking beacon of light in the darkness of the 2020s. Its just fucking awesome and cool, full of cool amazing people, who all deserve better than this shitass country gives them.
The Artemis II crew has broken the record for furthest distance from Earth ever travelled by humans.
Special thanks for the headshot of Laika here, she looks nice!
I'm going to try sharing more updates with new scenes as I make them. I don't want to keep leaving y'all in the dark for long stretches of time, so I'll get more behind the scenes content on here in the near future. Stay tuned!
An anthropomorphic Laika, the first dog and animal in space, wearing a 1950s soviet cosmonaut suit, holding a helmet emblazoned with "CCCP". She stands heroically ontop of a globe with a rocket ship blasting off of its surface and to the stars. Her name Laika is written in kyrillic next to the trail of the rocket. The poster reads in kyrllic "Космос зовёт!" (Space is calling!) "Мы впереди на космическом марше!"(We are leading the cosmic march!)
Shoutouts to one of my biggest heroes, Laika, the first dog in space. She was picked up as an unwitting mutt living on the streets of moscow and stuffed into the capsule of Sputnik II. She was the bravest little dog and sadly perished during reentry, becoming one with the stars.

Fun fact! The new scene was built around this famous picture of the real Laika, sitting inside the unfinished capsule for Sputnik 2. I had to simplify the design, but I had fun slipping this shot in as an easter egg for those who've seen it before

The people ruining everything for us will eventually fall. It might be to age, or illness, or prison, or even a violent uprising of those they wronged, but they WILL fall.
I intend to be around when that happens. Hopefully, you’ll be around too.
Democratizing the arts looks like universal income, low-barrier grants for both emerging and working artists, well-funded municipal arts & recreation programs, vibrant third spaces, and a well-funded public school system with progressive curriculum.
