This has become a very popular favourite in Slow Country territory… French pop at its best … youtu.be/s1At5s0YLSs?...
If you’d like to get recommendations outside of the algorithm with unique picks and thoughtful, digestible writing, I would recommending starting with @rosyoverdrive.com
"Scotland" by palette knife painter Georgia Hart
Thanks, Neil
Starting TODAY, I have a new weekly time slot on Soho Radio. Join me at NOON when I'll be dispensing an exclusive blend of new & pre-loved zingers as well as welcoming Matt Ashton from The Leaf Library, whose After The Rain, Strange Seeds will be right up there when we reflect on the best of 2026.

Good work, Rob, perhaps you might encounter a Spanish guitar event in your travels…
It might not be that obvious but ‘The Crystal Hum’ was a big inspiration for starting Slow Country. Unfortunately I won’t be able to be back in Scotland for this, but great job getting this together, keep the faith.
Yu Ching is really going to play in Glasgow…? That’s a game changer.
After an 18-year pause, I had the chance to step back into the light with Music For Your Heart for six shows - supporting Belle and Sebastian. I’m especially grateful to Raymond of Teenage Fanclub, whose guitar work elevated everything.
A special thanks to @kevinburns.de for the wonderful photo.
Out now for preorder. A kind of follow up album to We Are Not There But We Are Here but with strings attached 🙂✨️

Neuclouds CD album out on Subjangle Records. A collection of perfect miniature pop songs by Neil Hill
#NowPlaying this fantastic collection of pocket-sized jangle from @shopfiresmusic.bsky.social sounding great in the spring sunshine.
THE PERIPHERY returns to @noiseboxradio.com tonight at 8pm. Expect carrier bags, clip clop, cloud core and more! And make sure you stay tuned for a very special Colmthursday with @colmincambs.bsky.social straight after at 9pm!
Big in Japan at last.... www.instagram.com/p/DV5lSIcEawS/ "It's like "The meeting of the Pastels and Jesus and Mary Chain." This is the "C86 sound". The guitar is as nosey as an early merry chain, while the melodies and scales bring back pastels." Thank you auto translator, that's not too far off...
The polka dots are nice…
The acoustic/electric/keyboard combination really works, underlines the swoon of the chord changes. I daresay you’ll have a ‘refined’ version for the album but this ‘rough’ take is really very good, I’d definitely keep it for a b-side, an expanded edition etc.
This is just genius... If you happen to just want to get lost this morning in some music that sounds totally unique... An album Yu Ching recorded during her time in Berlin before returning to Taiwan. www.youtube.com/watch?v=SQfQ...
My debut mini album Home Truths (@yyzrecords.bsky.social) is a month old. Thank you to everyone who has said kind things or picked up a CD/download. Marking the moment with a new video for Tripping Over My Heart, filmed in San Francisco, California last September…

Fresh Ingredients is an indiepop radio show that goes out every Sunday at 7pm on untidyradio.com. This flyer is a nice old postcard of a lighthouse.
Episode 15 of Fresh Ingredients on Sunday is trundling slowly into view. Songs from @redcavalry.bsky.social, @shopfiresmusic.bsky.social, Pulp, @thelovelybasement.bsky.social, The Thorn, @theclientele.bsky.social and @somehappything.bsky.social plus loads more, and a sort of salty peaceful vibe.
Tambo-tastic, Neil. Sometimes good to break away from verse-chorus, verse-chorus etc
Tomorrow is Bandcamp Friday and as I've missed the last 2 I thought I'd catch this one. Black Lake is the third and final single taken from the forthcoming album The Old Works (available to individually preorder on 22nd March). Is it a song without a chorus or a song without a verse? I'm not sure.
I remember that now… I did have one track where it ended up sounding far too much like ‘Mexican Bandits’, which is a lot less intricate than ‘Red Indians’, so I had to scrap it. But very obviously a major influence.
Thanks very much @jodiewood.bsky.social , The Periphery is a perfect home for Slow Country…
