Solidworks Motion Study on the rear drive tandem axles. Pretty impressed by how powerfull that tool is!
Input speed 100RPM, output after the 1:4.45 gear reduction in the axles ~23RPM
With wheels on that would equate to around 0.6KM/h. Obviously the real input speed will be much higher than this.

Axles are nearing completion now. Significantly more work than initially anticipated, but I think the results were well worth it.
Progress is being made. Batteryboxes are now onto the frame, crossmembers for the fuel tanks are in place.
Also the rear suspension (Hendrickson RTE) is moving along, be it slower than I would like.

More progress on the fuel tanks. The mounts are closed to finished except for a few small details now.
The tanks themself need further work since they’ll need to be split as these are to contain batteries and electronics. Also filler caps, hose fittings, and other details are still to be done.
Ford LTL 9000, a defining truck of the 70’s into the late 90’s when it’s production stopped.
Introduced in 1976, and from 1996 forward #Ford heavy trucks went on as the #Sterling brand, later to become part of #Daimler.
A true icon of #trucking in the US and Australia and still on the roads.

This model in it’s base configuration (it will be customizable eventually) will be around 105cm in length. The model is made to impress!
It will be as accurate as it can be, within limitations of 3D printing.
