God creates dinosaurs, God destroys dinosaurs. God creates Man, man destroys God. Man creates dinosaurs. Dinosaurs eat man, woman inherits the earth
Am I correct in assuming that "Treats" implies they were intended to be given to trick or treaters?
He definitely is, and she might well be. I think what makes the play extraordinary (for me) is that it can make you feel for the suffering of even a pretty terrible person like Lear.
“Long ago I yearned to be a hero without knowing, in truth, what a hero was. Now, perhaps, I understand it a little better. A grower of turnips or a shaper of clay, a Commot farmer or a king--every man is a hero if he strives more for others than for himself alone."

I love this description which reminds me of reading Mamet's True and False in college and thinking "Ah I see the trouble, his step by step guide has left out Step Zero: Be William H. Macy"
Proper high speed rail would make a flight from Montreal to NYC unnecessary. It’s a straight shot down mostly a river valley. You could go from downtown to downtown in about two hours.
I've seen a few folks today bemoaning the lack of subject experts sharing the deep knowledge here on BlueSky. Those folks should follow @kurtbusiek.bsky.social
Democratic consultants: To replicate Mamdani’s success with the young people we must appeal to their short attention spans with memes and TikTok
Mamdani (actual quote): In the fifth century in what we now know as Ireland, a British warlord named Coroticus had laid waste to the countryside
Very on-brand for Gingrich to seek out a new, younger canal the moment the current canal starts having health problems
Is that a young Celia Imrie as a student!?

Large black and white illustration of Calvin and Hobbes on a ship in the water with a massive Z coming from behind. This was a private commission (not mine).

Daylight Saving Time is increasingly hard to notice when my digital devices are like, "What? Nothing happened. We know what time it is."
And my stove is left blinking and screaming, "IT HAPPENED! TIME SHIFTED UNNATURALLY! THEY'RE ALL LYING! ONLY I KNOW! ONLY I REMEMBER!"
A handicap blue and white painted sign on the asphalt of a parking space. The symbols are meant to be a pregnant women and a baby stroller, but it doesn't look like that. It looks like pac man being killed with scissors next to a dancer

usually if you ask experts why an empire fell they’ll say it’s nuanced and multifaceted, so i think it’s kind of cool that with America future historians will get to just say like “oh they took the idiot train to moronsville”
Rod Serling is probably the coolest guy of the 20th century. Looked cool, sounded cool, fought Nazis, hated John Wayne, wrote the screenplay for Planet of the Apes. Honestly dunks all the hell over any male influencer guy.
"Why do you want to have a 1970s music pavilion at the Shakespeare festival?"
"It features wine made by the chairman of the Chinese Communist Party!"
"But how does that make it anything to do with Shakespeare?"
"Mao is the vintner of our disco tent!"

never, ever, ever, ever accept "how will you pay for it?" as an argument against social programs.
I can’t believe you lefty Luddites hate tech so much that you embrace mRNA vaccines, heat pumps, electric bikes, hybrid work, renewable power (and awesome advancements in storage), space telescopes, and hot/cold running water but reject the planet destroying plagiarism enrich the worst people bots!
Dubya was basically an antebellum one termer — a drunk idiot failson turned evangelical teetotaler — who accidentally found himself in the 21st century. I think if you put a Pierce or Fillmore in office on 9/11 with Dick Cheney in their ear they’d have more or less acted the same way.
You may laugh, but the Macbeths are a much better role model for a marriage than Romeo and Juliet. They discuss their problems (killing the king of Scotland), share their hobbies (killing the king of Scotland), and resolve their conflicts (by killing the king of Scotland).
Unless Mark Millar is writing.
Chadwick Boseman and James van der Beek both died in their 40s of an illness that's treatable if a colonoscopy catches it but almost no insurer covers them for people under 45, this is what Engels meant by "social murder"

I have been made aware of reports of an ICE agent firing a gun into a car in Roxbury this week.
Whenever ICE is around, you can expect violence. It's time to ABOLISH ICE.
Until then, NJ must use its full might to pass laws protecting us from ICE.
