This was exactly the part that confused me the most. What is dangerous about inviting her back if you know you are not a monster? More dangerous leaving her out to potentially meet less benign guys.

Gas generation falls as wind farms set new quarterly generation record New data shows wind generation reached 29.2TWh during the first quarter, as gas power output fell 16 per cent year-on-year

Gas generation was down 16 per cent in the first quarter due to the UK's latest wind power generation record. If it weren't for renewables this fossil fuel-induced energy crisis would be even worse. www.businessgreen.com/news/4528492...

In my experience, those with misophonia often have the poorest eating habits. My son suffers from it but we managed to curb his own noisy eating tendencies, through shaming incidentally. No issue with using the 1 tool that keeps most of society in order, a learned sense of decency (i.e. shame).

You are describing misophonia perfectly. Whereas the person who describes it as 'drives me up the wall' sounds too mild and more like the rest of us (it irritates just about everyone, but most of us can grumble, focus on something else and move on without the red mist descending).

The facts are stark: Europe must open the door to migrants, or face its own extinction | George Monbiot These are the facts: plummeting birth rates mean that without attracting immigration, many countries are sliding towards collapse, says Guardian columnist George Monbiot

Trump thinks immigrants will destroy Europe. The truth is the opposite.
This column is about the long arc of population change, the hybridity of European cultures, and the widely-misinterpreted results of demographic momentum.
Big issues we need to understand.

What does driving g 10% mean?

Interesting. I make sure I don't invest in any fossil fuel business, but most people I speak to are ok with nuclear energy investment to be part of the ethical portfolios they invest in.

5 months ago 0 0 0 0

It depends how complete your information is. Everything you say is partially true. But, solar isn't cleaner than nuclear if paired with battery, which you must if you want to compare it with nuclear, which can operate at all times. Solar is my favourite secondary source, but nuclear beats gas/coal.

5 months ago 0 0 0 0

Certainly it's a great deal cleaner than any fossil fuel energy though. I am assuming you mean clean =zero pollution and negligible pollution doesn't count? Which also rules out just about all industrial scale energy.

I do think that although it seems unarguably that 900 fewer injuries represents success, there is a logical conundrum that has me doubting. What if they made it 10mph and prevented 3000? Or 2mph and prevented ALL road accident related injuries? How do we value what is lost?

I have used that logic before myself but I have come to think it flawed Robin. After a perfect Glasto in '91, figured it couldn't be surpassed. But Glasto didn't have to measure up, just bring joy. What did I miss out on for fear of tainted nostalgia? OK if you have a potentially better plan.

Oops! The Times has had to issue an embarrassing correction over supposedly "sluggish" EV sales 😳

❌ It said EV sales to private buyers fell 10.8% this yr
✅They actually GREW…by 62%

Yet Times articles still claim a "big fall", "collapse" & "slide" in private EV sales 🤔

He may talk rubbish but Trump has an eye for beauty, and that is a breath of fresh air | Simon Jenkins The US president promotes classical architecture and loathes ‘ugly’ wind turbines. Keir Starmer would dismiss him as a nimby, but on this Trump has a point, says Guardian columnist Simon Jenkins

This is a shameful misuse of influence but also shows poor grasp of reality and logic. Implying that Trump has one redeeming quality as he agrees with SJ is laughably twisted. Everyone else can see what he can't, that his take is Trumpian in its selfishness, neglect of humanity and morality.

Can't think of anything villainous about Nick Clegg. I'm not a fanboy but people here are clearly very easily led to scapegoat vitriole. He's probably no angel but I can think of a hundred more influential and hate-filled tech protagonists or politicians more worthy of your ire.

Opposers of carbon trading must have an interest in persisting with oil business externalities being completely unaccounted for. But it's an irresponsible short term interest. We need to stop subsidising dirty energy production and if oil investors lose their shirt, so much the better.
