Some ad clickbait read, “She mixed gelatin with this and now she can’t stop losing weight.”
I didn’t click it because I know an ad for tapeworm eggs when I see one.

My bandmate picked up a Yamaha Reface CP and I pretty quickly found if you set the delay to Digital and the depth to full, you get a looper. Then you can layer sounds and use the time knob to make it weird, like some 80s era tape loop. More fun than I expected from a digital piano.
A bowl full of homemade garlic butter.
The trend of runners making butter by throwing some cream and salt into a bag while they run is the kind of whimsical stuff I’m here for. It was a cloudy, cool day and I had 10 miles to do, soooo…I made garlic butter while I ran around town.
Too much garlic butter, I think.

An commercial outdoor ice machine from Arctic Glacier. The door to the machine reads “Grab a Bag. Have Some Fun!”
It’s…a bag of ice, dude. How much fun can I possibly have with it? Are the kids asking their parents for bags of ice these days? Have we circled back around to depression-era toys like sticks, hoops, and string?
I know it didn’t hit for a lot of people, but I find FBC: Firebreak to be my kind of chaotic fun with a good group of friends. I’m glad Remedy gave it another update and I hope they really are able to keep the servers online.
@timecop1983.bsky.social put on a really lovely show in Portland last night. Fun energy and great music with another good synthwave act, The Bad Dreamers, opening (and even doing a song with Timecop1983).
So cool to hear John Chowning just won a Technical Grammy for his invention of FM synthesis in 1967!
I think most of the tickets sold were to people who shoved their phones into their pockets with the Fandango app open on accident. The rest were US officials obliged to attend or lose their jobs. Or…that’s what I assume.
I was just reading about this elsewhere. I use a lot of NI tools (Massive X is my go-to synth and I just started working with Maschine+ with update 3.2, etc) and am curious how this will all shake out. I hope the folks who have built these tools come out ok.
A screen shot of Apple Quartiles insisting that “dicks” is not in its word list because it has no sense of crude humor. Hmph.
Apple was insistent that this slang word for “detectives” was not a valid word. I am aghast!
Legendary Pink Dots performing live
Legendary Pink Dots have always been such a great live band in the 30 years I’ve been catching their shows. Tonight was another really powerful set. Orbit Service opened and also did a fantastic set. Such amazing music!
Closed out my 55th year with a half-marathon, my second organized one ever. I’m slow as hell, but I finished, despite just not doing a lot of training this year. Pretty happy with that.
Ah Cama-Sotz wallpaper 👍
Saying “That looks AI generated. AI still doesn’t understand what humans are supposed to look like,” is apparently not a cool thing to say when someone shows you photos of their newborn infant.
A sticker on a gas pump reads “Cash Pays Inside”
The Man in Black doesn’t pay at the pump.
I used to road trip across the US for work about that time and did about the same thing, usually at strip malls and hotels and such. There was a pretty good wardriving app for OS X. Occasionally would get run off by a security guy nervous that I was chilling in their parking lot. 🤣
Hmmm, I’m pretty sure that’s a word, though it might be a proper noun…one of those pseudofood things sold by an influencer or something.
A selfie of middle age guy with wild math professor hair holding up a small painted rock with a heart and “You Rock!” written on it in marker.
Between miles 3 and 4 of my run today at the track, a little girl about 6 or 7 ran up to me, said “Here you go!” and handed me this rock. I thanked her and when I read it, I just about burst into tears. It was a super kind thing to do, and I carried it in my hand for the rest of the run. #running
TouchOSC MIDI & OSC control surface update out today!
We've added a new old skool script demo (shouts to Virgill for the soundtrack!) and the usual mix of new features and solved problems. Keeping a steady development pace and already cooking the next update!
Happy Kontrolling!
Got the Drumbrute Impact integrated with the setup. The MX-1 had to get reconfigured and wow is Roland’s documentation on MX-1 both accurate and incredibly obtuse. Threw a short pattern together in Massive X to make sure it all worked together. It’s kind of a hoot to play with.
They’re also change the name to the Department of Portation to just get the prefix “trans” out of it.
Hm, well, I liked what they did with Fallout, so here’s hoping they can make something cool in the Culture universe!
Wait…is that a hypothetical, or is someone really making a TV series based on the Culture novels. I just reread Look to Windward.
I didn’t run til age 54. Been at it just over a year. I’m slow as hell (11:00/mi avg) and it’s freaking crappy on wet days like today. 60 pounds lost, great BP and VO2 max, and being healthier than I was keeps me going back even when I don’t wanna get soaked like I did today. #running
When Skyrim first came out, my partner and kiddo and I were all taking turns playing it and watching each other. My level 2 character set a village chicken on fire and we all died laughing as the entire village came to murder me. Good times 🤣
