A small soup bowl on a kitchen counter that is broken right down in the middle.

Happy New Year everyone!!

My first deed of the year was accidentally snapping a bowl right in half when I was stacking them to clean up. Hopefully this isn’t a sign…

(Does anyone know a good clue I can use? Is this fixable?)

How many of the people making this decision themselves benefited from state funding of their post-graduate education? (It just wouldn’t have been on my menu of possibilities if there wasn’t a full grant for fees and maintenance to apply for.)

Today 20.000+ people came together in The Hague to protest the proposed cuts in education funding. To protest against layoffs. Against a penalty for study delays. Against the closure of degree programmes. And to fight for academic freedom, equal opportunities, and the right to study. #WOinActie

Just created a starter pack for people interested in early modern women! Somewhat random and definitely incomplete, so please suggest more people to add (including yourself) go.bsky.app/Cqqbspt

Given the X-odus (see what we did there? A true fire bird): which other #earlymodern centres have arrived here already?

We've got a starter pack for easy following, but keen to hear about more: go.bsky.app/LLzFj3b

My birthday present to myself arrived (very) early. This collection has a poem for every day of year. A wonderful way to (re)discover poets.

This coming year will likely be one of insecurity, instability, and big decisions for me. But at least I can be sure of one thing: there will be poetry.
