I quite happily live in a neighborhood where most people do not share my religion, where multiple languages are represented, and where people have come from a lot of different countries.
Bigoted assholes always assume everyone else actually shares their bigotries.
Well that blows the 3.5% target outta the water. And demonstrates its truth: you don’t need majority of the population engaged to affect structural change, but you do need sustained action that includes but goes beyond protest and, crucially, includes noncooperation techniques.
they are as Minnesotan as the Scandinavian, German, Hmong, Karen, Tibetan. All of us who have come here from afar, adopted this place, shared our cultures with one another & with those indigenous- the Dakota & Anishinaabe who are still here & teach us how to love this land & its waters.
Somali Minnesotans are such an exquisite and beloved part this state, who we are. I live in a neighborhood with them, three blocks up from the largest Somali mall outside Somalia. I love my neighbors, their smiles and warm Salaams, their sambusas and tea, their model of devotion.
