Cultivating a bond with an independent bird is one of the most rewarding sides of rescue--plus he's just so cute to watch. Radar is friendly with other birds and would make a great husband for a lonely hen as well.
Radar is a calm and confident bird around people, but hasn't spent enough time with us to suss out whether he has a cuddly side. His ideal owner is someone who loves birds that do bird stuff, birds who have a zest for life and birds who are just happy to chill.
This is a bird that knows how to enjoy a bit of R&R. As soon as he was rescued he settled right into the cushy indoor life, hogging the bath and going for long loafs on the windowsill.

Radar the ex-racer is the pigeon embodiment of “tall, dark, and handsome.” At 1 year old, he self-rescued in April 2025 after a mysterious ordeal left his belly covered in road rash.

Hootie has some feather damage to his wingtips and tail from confinement while his caretakers tried their best to make things work. He's been in foster care for over a month and has his flying strength back, and those feathers should molt out over the course of a year.
He is well acclimated to people and other pigeons, and will allow handling by his favorite human playmates. He is very outgoing and loves to play fight like most male birds! He also builds nests for his plush and would be a doting husband for a lonely hen.
Even though he only sustained some bumps and bruises, his rescuer kept him as a beloved family pet until her passing in 2024. Regretfully his surviving family realized he deserved more time than they could give him.
Hootie is a feisty, frosty-colored blue bar feral available for adoption anywhere within a 2 hour radius of Westchester County NY. He was rescued from a New Jersey highway median after being stunned by a passing car in 2020. 🧵⬇️

First racer of 2024. "Radar" self-rescued by posting up on the windowsill of an office building where a good samaritan noticed something wasn't quite right. Hidden under his feathers was road rash 4 inches long and tons of bruising. If only these birds could talk. #pigeonsky 🪶
