Yesterday was kinda trying at work but one cute interaction was seeing one of my students in the hallway dancing with someone. Another kid yelled out "are you guys tangoing?" And I said "looks more like salsa to me" then the dancing kid said "we know how to salsa!" and danced way harder.

Almost everyone I met in college and grad school moved away from Hungary the second they could. Few of them saw a future in Hungary. Now they're cheering and posting Hungarian flag emojis. It makes me a bit hopeful.

I don't talk regularly with my Hungarian friends anymore but I heart reacted every single IG story about the election results and cried a lil at how much people were celebrating. 16 years is a long time. Orbán got elected during my 2nd visit there and I had no idea at the time how bad he would be.
