Looking forward to visiting @princetonupress.bsky.social to give a seminar on the recent work in our lab and hear about the work my colleagues are doing. See you soon!

My uncle was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and he died within a month of his diagnosis. It would have made such a difference our family to have had extra time. Our government should be supporting research and life saving discoveries like this instead of defunding it.

To any that knew Ellen in the #DevBio community- you know she was so thoughtful and always willing to help. She cared about all of us and dedicated herself to improving the future of science and our community. She will be sorely missed. Sending my condolences to all that loved her.💔

Ellen was so kind, thoughtful, caring and dedicated to mentoring. She was always quick to send me thoughtful emails and was such a dedicated member to our engagement and outreach committee. I will miss her. I am so sorry to her family and the other folks who had the pleasure of interacting with her.

Chugging coffee like nobody’s business and really hoping to get all the things I have to do done today. So naturally I’m cruising Bluesky and Twitter at 5 AM. Productive start! 🙃

That made me lol! My student was telling me a story about breeding ladybugs and stealing aphids from his neighbor’s yard to feed them. He got busted for accidentally spreading aphids into his own yard! I love the ladybug stories! 😂

Look, I now know it’s not great bringing bugs from elsewhere into a new environment but I purchased these ladybugs from a local source (LadyBugs Direct in Northern California) I have to say… they got to business RIGHT AWAY. 🐞

Hi everyone in the academic and STEM spaces… please check in on your friends, colleagues, and students. People are struggling right now and a lot of folks need support, a kind word, or even just to know you are there if they need you. Sending hugs to my community! We are in this together.

I had no idea ladybugs crawl into houses to overwinter. 😬 At the moment our plants are inherited from previous owners and I never thought of cutting the giant rose bush down but it’s an option. Thanks for the info! It’s too late for the current batch but I won’t order more in the future.

I would breed my own from local ladybugs if I could! Do you have other ideas for how to fight these infestations in a non-toxic way. I’m down to try other methods.

It’s either this or pesticides so I went with what seems like a more natural mechanism since I don’t want to poison the honey bees. Thank you for the info!
