We're looking forward to seeing what people submit!
There will be three stories chosen for this book, so three writers and three illustrators.
Marie Enger's author photo, their hair windblown and covering their face.
An illustration from Marie Enger's TTRPG Death To The Wizard kings, where Hate Pit and Pit Pit stroll through the ominous innards of the Bongcano and discuss labor rights.
An illustration by Marie Enger of a rather shady looking character, a skeleton in spiked armor holding a card sparking with magic and a gnarly looking dagger.
Our latest Creator Spotlight features @soengery.bsky.social ✨
Marie will be illustrating our newest novella, This Mortal Coil, and they were kind enough to share some art with us!

The cover for This Mortal Coil, with art by Jan and Vlad Schwarts. The book is written by Jasmine walls and illustrated by Marie Enger. The cover shows a skeleton wearing a cloak and holding a golden, broken sword, their pose furtive as they tug at their hood. Behind them is a path leading up to a looming and shadowed castle framed by a bright moon and a blood red sky.
We're excited to reveal our newest illustrated novella:
This Mortal Coil
Written by @mythjae.bsky.social
Illustrated by @soengery.bsky.social
With gorgeous cover art by @artwins.bsky.social
We’ve also got some very cool announcements to go with this cover reveal, but first, what's the story? 🧵✨

Y E S. When I was asked to do this I lost my mind. This Mortal Coil would have had complete control over my brain when I was coming up, and Jasmine IS my Skeleton Muse SO! I am really going all in on this.

Only 30 of these limited miniatures are left! 💀✨
We have not decided where to donate just yet for April, but we will announce it soon!
Bonedust Press is a publisher, which means we need to sell books to survive as a business, but that is nothing compared to the people around the world, including in our own communities, trying to simply survive through genocide, war, natural disasters, and hateful bigotry. We cannot ignore our need to balance these two truths. Bonedust Press commits to donating 10% of all direct sales to mutual aid on a continuing basis. Every month, we will donate to a specific cause and we will continue to do so for as long as we are able. Just to be perfectly clear: we support freedom and independence for Gaza, Lebanon, Iran and every place being bombarded or threatened. We see Sudan and we grieve and wish for peace. We support our trans and queer siblings and their freedom. We do not tolerate hateful bigotry. We are just a small indie publisher, but we are built by human hands. We are Black, queer, and angry. Our heart hurts for the people in pain, and we’ll do what we can with what we have.
A small announcement before we continue yelling about books:
Thank you so much for sharing! We're glad this book resonated with you.✨
The Traitor & The Wretch By Jasmine Walls (Full review on Patreon) A cultist suddenly freed of the Ancient Evil's domination of their mind. A traitor who'd gotten tired of their friends being the proverbial red-shirts. A forced collaboration to escape pursuit through deadly tunnels. The Traitor & the Wretch is an intimate aftermath story, a tale that attaches you to two of high fantasy's most hated character tropes and gives you messy and incredibly sympathetic characters to root for. It will instantly convince you Knell deserves his second chance, and then want Percy to be the first to give it to him. It also delightfully understands the tropes of its genre(s), plays with them, and succeeds in both being so clearly in an Epic High Fantasy yet conserve such a tight focus.
The Traitor & The Wretch By Jasmine Walls (Full review on Patreon) Percy explicitly describes his attractions as aromantic and asexual spectrum, slow to come and rare, but there is a distinctly aspec texture to the book as a whole, in the way it eschews big dramatic kisses (and lampshades them ceaselessly) and constant attraction reminders. It's 99% cuddling, forehead kisses, and deep care in this house, and it felt different and welcome in ways that are hard to explain.
Highlights of my full Patreon post about THE TRAITOR AND THE WRETCH <3
TL;DR is: I LOVED IT. LOVED THE CHARACTERS. LOVED THE ASPECNESS OF IT ALL. Oh an my brain is weird about romance. Join us in the Protect Knell fanclub ~~

A grayscale charcoal-style illustration of the two main characters, Knell and Percy, from "The Traitor & The Wretch." There is a small artist watermark in the corner. Knell, on the left, clasps his hands uncertainly. Knell has dark gray skin, long tangled black hair, and dark eyes with glowing irises. Knell is skinny, dressed in a dark tattered robe. Percy, on the right, looks back at Knell with disgust and distrust. He has short black hair, large facial scars, and a missing tooth. Percy has his back to the viewer and is draped in a torn cape. Percy's muscular right arm ends at the wrist and is wrapped in bandages.

Thank you so much for sharing your review and lovely fanart!
Outliving an evil wizard would have been great for anyone other than an animated skeleton. Now they're stuck on a quest with a judgmental talking sword to find a decent wizard who can break the spell binding them to this mortal coil.
