A photo of a vinyl record half removed from its sleeve, lying on a wooden table top. The top half of the record and sleeve are in shadow, with sunlight illuminating the lower half. Only part of the sleeve is visible, and features a grainy monochrome close up image of an arm.

Circling back on some old albums that I listened to tons when I first got them but haven’t heard in a while. I wrote about Mike Uva’s ‘Lady Tell Me Straight’ back in 2017 (!) but I’d been enjoying it for 5 years by then. Anyway, it’s a lovely record, have a listen.

a black and white drawing of a globe with the bbc logo in the corner Alt: An animation from the Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy TV series, showing The Guide describing how the Babelfish - ‘probably the oddest thing in the universe’ - carries out automatic translation for anyone who has one in their ear.

Clearly remembered to put your Babelfish in this morning!

If you're in the market for an Arturia MiniBrute2 let me know before I stick it on eBay! Very lightly used, comes with PSU, box and manual and all the little cables, everything it came with. Postage from Nottingham, UK.

Thanks for all the birthday wishes folks - rest of household at work & school, but I’ve been outside and enjoyed a bluebells, blossom & blue sky sort of morning.

It was him I was trying to remember if I’d been his plugger 😆
Saw him solo Upstairs At The Garage or LA2 or somewhere in ‘97 or ‘98, & there are other gig dates of his in my diaries but I don’t really remember working the album, maybe we were pitching for it, dunno, too long ago!

My first copy, not sure I’ve ever heard the whole album, although I remember in the collections of various friends when I was living in halls at college in ‘91 / ‘92, so I’ve definitely heard some of it!

The open inlay card from U2’s ‘Achtung Baby’ cassette laid out in all its 11 panel glory on a wooden surface below the black cassette itself.
8 more tapes are visible, stood on end, spines facing the camera, including albums by:
Placebo, David Gray, James, The Waterboys, The Soup Dragons, The Beautiful South, The Carpenters, and Ultravox.

Interesting chazza haul from earlier in the week for #cassunday, think I plugged a couple of them back in the day. (Definitely did Beautiful South)

Island Design Team: “So how many panels do you want for the inlay lads?”
U2: “Er, dunno - how many will fit?”

Quite a lot it turns out.

A Top Of The Pops / Weetabix ‘90s compilation album on cassette, standing on top of a stack of other tapes - a Donovan Greatest Hits cassette is also visible.

Amazing! I’ve definitely got some tapes that my sister & I sent off for with coupons from a cereal box in the ‘80s - can’t remember where they are atm, but will dig them out! Also reminded me of this ‘90s Weetabix x TOTP beauty I found last summer.
(Bought just to play ‘Confide In Me’ on repeat 😄)

Happy birthday House Of Stories, released one year ago today!

I did an awful job of sharing this last year after my Gran’s death knocked me sideways. Life comes first.

I’ll keep sharing these songs and videos. Huge thanks for listening, watching and supporting.

Just imagine you too could be gazing lovingly at the new issue of @wyrdscience.bsky.social before settling in to spend a lazy weekend reading about fighting men, fantasy, folklore, fairy tales, fungus and more

Go on, a better life away from your screens is (temporarily) possible

That held final chord that never ends always kills me. And then the old school (for ‘85) cabaret James Brown style reprise outro while he goes for a walk round the set - perfect.
