Should be a huge story. 18 year old died in a police precinct after an arrest on the Fourth of July. So far, family and friends say police explanations aren't credible.
Monday, NYT does basic story. ⬇️
Yesterday, community rallied at precinct. (Very sad.) Local TV was there.
Why no NYT follow-up?

Now is not the time to politicize a natural disaster because it might hurt Republicans. If it hurts Democrats there's no waiting period.
Agreed
Very empty flight heading from London to NYC. Have never seen it this empty before. Probably due to the US being a dumpster fire.
This was my flight approximately 2 weeks ago heading back to NYC from London.
It was less than half empty when they told us that boarding was complete.
I guess people really aren’t coming to the US like they used to…
Of note: I’ve taken this flight before and I’ve never seen it this empty!
Your regular reminder that most people in this country can't afford to move to another state and the inclination to say they're getting what they voted for in the devastation of a hurricane or flood or whatever the hell is a failure of common sense and empathy on multiple levels.
People are showing their whole entire asses.
I hope you’re not suggesting that children deserve to drown in floods because of how their state voted in an election.
The trickle down Regeanomics didn’t work then and isn’t working now.
Anybody I see espousing the "FAFO" sentiment about those poor kids drowning is going on my block list. No exceptions. I don't associate with shitty people who take grisly delight in the notion that there's any justice in children dying because of how some of the adults in their region voted.
Just look at the food deserts in DC where you have one grocery store for thousands of people. They don't care that there's a lack of access to food for poor Black people at all. If it comes down to it, they will indeed just close, leave people starving, & keep it pushing.
The fact we have secret police whisking people off the streets doesn’t get enough attention. It ain’t normal and we’re further down the road to authoritarianism than you think.
Between the rebrand of trickle down economics and weapons of mass destruction, I’m truly not enjoying this timeline as an elder millennial.
These are torture chambers
I remember during undergrad talking with a professor from the USSR re their politics and its societal disadvantages, i.e. "At least we in the US are free since unlike USSR we don't have to carry passports all the time just to cross into different parts of the country." - good times
I have seen so many folks with their passports peaking out of their pockets while walking around NYC lately (including the guy standing in front of me on the train this morning).
This is giving police state.
Yup.
You can surely find this at one of those As Seen on TV stores, I’m sure lol
It official 💪🏾🗽✨
Smdh. Fecklessness abounds.
Cuomo got steamrolled lol
This was supposed to be a breakthrough year in the 44-year-long struggle against H.I.V.
It's turned into something very different.

So entertained that folks outside of NYC can get to enjoy our politics. This is going to be an interesting 4 months
Sigh.
It brings me no joy to report this, but it’s been almost a full day of the Mamdani candidacy, I walked from Midtown all the way to Greenwich and back, and the city is in SHAMBLES.
I saw a man doing pull-up sets on scaffolding. There was a *jazz band* playing in the park, in front of CHILDREN!
🤸🏾♀️✨
"Mamdani’s victory needn’t be a death knell for a winning Democratic party. It should be a death knell for an ossified Democratic establishment. And it should be a wake up call for non-socialist Democrats to show some of the audacity and the ability of Mamdani."

Zohran looking out on a victory night crowd.
In the words of Nelson Mandela: it always seems impossible until it’s done.
My friends, it is done. And you are the ones who did it.
I am honored to be your Democratic nominee for the Mayor of New York City.
Yuck
Ahhh so the weeks of telling everyone around us not to rank Cuomo worked.
That’s how community works, folks!
