I half expected this phone to ring as I walked past with a creepy dude on the other end spouting some bs about his mate Oberon.

If I'm correct, I'm trying to understand why - Is this done due to the frustum of the camera, so the arms look "better" rather than the view from the characters head position?
The traditional two floating arms that cast no shadows
Plus a full body with arms that mimic the animations and does cast shadows (except for the arms)
Since you can only look down to a certain extent, you can't actually see your shoulders that these FPS arms are connected to, so I can only assume there's actually 2 things happening here...
If you look really close - The player shadow doesn't actually reflect the mesh of the player arms, yet you do have a rigged body - Why is this?...
I looked into options for switchable 1st/3rd person controller and after seeing how Opsive expect me to pay ยฃ170 to upgrade something I have owned for years, I thought f*ck that - I know what I'm doing now, I'll build it myself!
So I now have a fully rigged avatar that can have clothing attached!
Whilst building my new RPG, I realised the old "floating arms" approach wasn't going to work - Mainly because any equipped armour wouldn't reflect on the arms of my local player in first person view...

Thanks for the warning. I think the negativity is totally justified, though I am hoping I can escape the political side of social media this time.
Hopefully I'll find cool creatives in the VR space that are sharing awesome work and escape the political bs completely.
Hi Bluesky! I'm trying to move away from Facebook so I'm here trying to find my people.
I'm a #vr developer, previously worked for VRChat and I'm now a consultant and working on a bunch of other GameDev projects outside of work.
Would love to find others in the GameDev space to network with.
What the eff just happened 50% the way through World of Goo 2??
I always loved how crazy the original was but this is something else, it's suddenly changed from a physics based puzzle game into an old. 90s point and click investigator where you control a Private Investigator!
This game is awesome
Here's a quick video of my progress after a couple of weeks. Got a full dialogue system, inventory system, quest system, crafting system and NPC AI all sorted.
Not entirely sure what this means, presumably not a Shadow PC alternative, instead just an Quest app that's running the Geforce Now we app inside it?

Best Xmas present ever!

Proof that AI has an alternative agenda.
I like the traversal cues in this game. Those vertical planks make you realise it's a wall you can climb without adding something aesthetically out of place. Really smart level design.

A glowing review of my survival game, Among the Wild.
Thanks Internet!

I've been looking for something to fill my Skyrim void and I wanted to share Tainted Grail: Fall of Avalon because it's great!
Its based in a TTRPG and it really is the closest thing to Skyrim I've found.
Added a grabbable sword to my #vrchat pirate avatar. Hell yeah.
After a Google Verification nightmare I can finally celebrate that my game, Among the Wild, is available again on the Playstore!

This is great to hear - Give people without experience the experience they need to succeed in such a brutal market.

Thanks for the advice!
Strangely, as soon as I posted the above I got an email from then saying my account has been reactivated!
Think I'll try to find some like-minded folks over this way anyways!
God damn 640x480!
I am absolutely dying of a cold, but I figured putting this on my projector and playing in bed with a pot of tea is the only thing that can cure me.
Thought this was a cool little interaction detail from #MetroAwakeningVR I don't think I've seen before in #VR.
As you get close to an interactable, it'll outline in yellow but then once your hand is in true interactable distance it changes to white.
Thought that was pretty nice.

Nice to revisit old projects.
I made this game during a particularly weird part of my life - I was working away from home and living in the cheapest room in a pub in Liverpool I could find.
Every time I came in from work I'd have to pass by the bar, and someone would always buy me a beer.
Fire on, mug of Knoops hot chocolate and Praey For Gods. I really love winter.
By the way, of you've never played Praey For Gods but you like Shadow of the Colossus then I'd highly recommend it. The soundtrack is also one of the best I've ever heard in a video game!
Oh hi!
I'm a professional XR Developer from Manchester, UK.
Recently worked for a well-known social VR company, and outside of work I'm building a number of VR videogames.
Hoping to connect with #gamedev, #softwaredevelopment, #vr and #virtualreality folks or anyone into #ttrpgs or #cosygames
