A glass tumbler on a grey quartz counter, holding a single large ice cube with a purple flower frozen at its top, floating in a light amber liquid.
Right now, in another timeline, a very different variant of the person I used to be is sitting down at a table for one with a brutally hoppy IPA and an equally bitter sense of ennui.
I hope she works it out. 💕

For Our Families
Alberta trans kids are self-harming because of hateful UCP legislation.
Parents like me have been protesting, writing letters, and calling my MLA for two years.
They don’t listen because they think most of you don’t care.
Prove them wrong. Speak up and help us save our kids. #abpoli #ableg

Screenshot of a post from Donald Trump: A whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again. I don't want that to happen, but it probably will. However, now that we have Complete and Total Regime Change, where different, smarter, and less radicalized minds prevail, maybe something revolutionarily wonderful can happen, WHO KNOWS? We will find out tonight, one of the most important moments in the long and complex history of the World. 47 years of extortion, corruption, and death, will finally end. God Bless the Great People of Iran!
The President of the United States is openly threatening to commit genocide against 90 million people.
Prime Minister Carney: if there was ever a moment to denounce this illegal war, withdraw your support, and call for accountability for war crimes—it’s now.

If I had to choose a single thought which haunts me most, it’s this. And it has animated me for years. This thing has been growing and metastasizing for almost a decade. And every passing year we’ve grown more hoarse trying to get someone to give a shit.

A graphic that reads: Source request: What does it look like when we let trans people thrive? When public systems support trans people? When health care is free and accessible, and spaces are affirming? What are the solutions for making trans lives better? What could trans utopia look like?
I am looking for specific stories of trans people from all walks of life across Canada who’ve been given space to not only survive, but thrive. People who are interested in speaking about how certain policies, systems, or resources have made their lives easier and better as trans people. Is this you or someone you know? Pop me an email at:

I'm working on a large print feature for later this year that asks a big question:
What does it look like when we let trans people thrive?
I'm looking to talk to a few everyday trans people from across Canada about what that idea means to them.

Trans Day of Visibility image with BC Humanist Association logo
We see you, we love you, we fight for you. 🏳️⚧️
On this Trans Day of Visibility, we stand in solidarity against the assaults on trans rights across the globe. Even Canada is not isolated from reactive Christian nationalism. It's why we defend human rights and government religious neutrality.

Today is International Transgender Day of Visibility.
I want all transgender individuals, in my community and across our province, to understand that transgender people will always have a place in B.C.

Supreme Court rules against Colorado ban on ‘conversion therapy’ for LGBTQ+ kids
The Supreme Court has ruled against a law banning “conversion therapy” for LGBTQ+ kids in Colorado, one of about two dozen states that banned the discredited practice.
A reminder that Canada is proud to have one of the most comprehensive bans on “conversion therapy” in the world.
This is because it is fraudulent, harmful, and never works.
We choose evidence over ideology and protection over harm. 🇨🇦

Today, we celebrate the achievements of transgender, Two-Spirit and non-binary people.
Today is also a reminder that not everyone is free to live their lives safely. Many still face hate and discrimination, and struggle to access the life-saving health care and supports.

Today, a group of Albertan parents of trans youth went to the Legislature to demand a meeting with Premier Danielle Smith.
She didn't just refuse to meet. She refused to acknowledge the request. She made their families suffer, and refuses to hear their stories.

Opinion: UCP laws have put a chill on transgender visibility
Trans Day of Visibility is complicated in Alberta, especially for trans and gender diverse youth.
It is a very sad day for human rights when youth have to live in fear and are pushed back into the closet by the UCP government’s discriminatory and hateful laws.
We will continue to fight to have them repealed or struck down.
