Truly the perfect person Sugi needs to talk to

True that Sugi doesn’t have to figure on his own like it’s a must. I think Ume suggested to talk to someone who knows Sakura better is to learn more about Sakura.

Again, Sugi never tried to learn more about people. And I feel like he will perhaps realize that the grade captain is kinda like him.

I like how Umemiya doesn’t spoon feed Sugi. His kouhai has been following him in every step of the way. It’s time for Sugi to make decisions and figure things out by himself.

Back to the present, Sugi still bothered by his conflicting feelings about Sakura. Like he finds him cool but doesn’t know why he’s angry about it. I think he doesn’t want to accept that. Perhaps it replaces Ume? Perhaps it’s the fear of change…the day Ume graduates and someone else will take over?

Sugi has always followed Ume without question. He’s very thankful towards the man who built and welcomed him to this safe haven

…but I couldn’t help but wonder if Nii sensei shifts the story to something to a path where Sugi would start questioning Ume 👀 just my wild imagination LOL

It may be a simple panel but a klinking of the ice is a common visual that shows that “something is coming” or “a catalyst/trigger is happening”. In our case, the start of Bofurin.

And Sugishita was there from the beginning and through it all.

The four kings have always doted on Sugishita even before they entered Furin. They’ve watched him for a long time.

We’re already seeing the beginnings of what we were introduced in the present time: Tsubaki suggesting Sugi hair products, Momose and his street art…

I am seeing more similarities of Sakura in Sugi’s backstory. To be frank, I imagined this is kinda how Sakura’s backstory is. Just a tad bit.

Although, what’s very similar is that they never thought they find a place like it. Safe. and warm. They want to stay here.

Back then, Sugi’s world was filled with annoying people who greet him harshly, holding prejudices. When Ume came to his life, he is welcomed warmly. They don’t judge him by his surface or rumors. They look at him eye to eye.

He found the same comfort he has with his grandparents.
