56 million years ago, the Earth suddenly heated up – and many plants stopped working properly It could be a sign of what’s to come.

When global temperatures shot up by ~6°C about 56 million years ago, plants were unable to thrive

The reduced ability of vegetation & soils to capture & store carbon may have kept temperatures elevated for >100,000 years

Today Earth is warming ~10 times faster than it did 56 million years ago

The long term problem with farm bankruptcies is who buys them up. Greater control of food production in fewer hands😬

Australian government gaslights the nation as it puts Woodside ahead… Climate Analytics responds to the Australian government's approval of Woodside Energy's gas production project out to 2070

"Anthony Albanese's claim that more fossil gas is needed for the energy transition is unscientific nonsense - it is gas industry propaganda raised to the level of state policy – and reflects a stampede toward more fossil fuels rather than a transition away."

Woodside’s North West Shelf gas export project is a disaster on five fronts:

🟠 Driving up WA energy prices
🟠 Threatening WA's domestic gas reserves
🟠 Paying even fewer royalties - down to just 0.6% of WA revenue in 2027-28
🟠 Corroding Murujuga rock art
🟠 Wrecking the climate

Study links more frequent and severe heat waves to pollution from major fossil fuel producers A new study has determined that 55 heat waves over the past quarter-century would not have happened without human-caused climate change.

Impt NEW systematic attribution study finds that of 213 major heat waves that occurred betw 2000-2023, ALL of the studied heatwaves were made more intense due to collective carbon pollution by carbon majors

55 in the set were made "at least 10,000 times more likely" from human-caused climate change

Just in case you were not sure how off the previous scale Australia’s ocean temperatures were in the last Financial Year (July 2024 - June 2025) I plotted it using the previous FY graph

Marinus Link is an expensive risk for Tasmanians, and it needs better scrutiny The Marinus Link is likely to cost four times more than the equally controversial football stadium in Hobart. It should be subject to deeper scrutiny and better modelling.

Marinus Link is one of AEMO’s huge blunders in discredited ISPs. It must be reviewed before the Feds, Vic and Tas give go ahead to this mill stone around Tas neck. reneweconomy.com.au/marinus-link... #auspol

Climate change is really, really bad for farmers

“Oh but they’re not as bad as the other mob”

Sorry, if this gets approved the ALP are announcing that they are climate change deniers with a hatred of Australian culture and history.

No surprise here: re-elected Labor has no intention of reining in fossil fuels.

Sadly - Scott Reef, Ningaloo, the Great Barrier Reef - and the people who depend on them - are among the many victims of greenhouse gas pollution.

Visit them while you still can.

Labor Party will go the way of the Liberal Party if they ignore climate science, and the need for fundamental reforms to their policies, especially on energy.

There can be NO new fossil fuel projects if we’re to maintain a liveable planet/climate.

You might fool voters, but you can’t fool physics.

‘It’s a con’: Billionaire ‘Twiggy’ Forrest unloads on net zero Despite doubts about the economics of green hydrogen and Donald Trump’s aversion to clean energy, Andrew Forrest isn’t ready to back down on his dream.

Twiggy Forrest says 'net zero' is a "f---ing con".

He wants Fortescue to reach what he calls “real zero” by 2040 – where fossil fuels are no longer used because there are better alternatives.

“I believe net zero is a f---ing con,” he says. “Real zero is serious. Just stop burning fossil fuel.”’

Peter Dutton's gas 'diversion' plan to lower household energy bills by 3 per cent Peter Dutton's cornerstone east coast gas reservation policy may reduce household electricity bills by "around 3 per cent" in 2026, according to modelling released nearly two weeks after the plan was ...

The Coalition’s gas modelling contains a big admission: we don’t need new gas to increase gas supply.

They plan to lower prices by diverting uncontracted gas for export to the domestic market. New projects are not needed.

Coalition commits extraordinary about-face on 'end' to work from home A Coalition promise to send public servants back to the office has been jettisoned, and plans to cut 41,000 Commonwealth jobs walked back significantly, in a mid-campaign backflip.

A humiliating backdown on an ideologically driven policy that would have hurt services, ppl working from home & pushed the ACT into recession.

I'll keep fighting against public service cuts but have no confidence Coalition won't keep attacking Canberra.
