Algorithm, please stop encouraging me to develop insecurities It shouldn't be too much to ask, should it?

Algorithm, please stop encouraging me to develop insecurities. A rant written in one sitting today by me.

Tried to do my best fed up face for the thumbnail, as though an industry person had just been rude on an email. emzae.substack.com/p/algorithm-...

Just thinking about how we started off asking questions in a natural human way to jeeves, then with google we altered the way we searched, focusing on keywords etc, and now with ai it’s basically back to ask Jeeves but with longer questions

A white-skinned wheelchair user, sitting in her manual wheelchair, in a garden, filled with people. She’s wearing a long, blue, silk dress with large flowers, black-rimmed glasses, a large gold necklace with many chains, gold earrings, silver face piercings, gold & silver rings & a gold watch. She’s smiling, holding up a large wine glass which is half-filled.

After all, performing should be treated with the same value as 3 8 hour bar shifts. It is essential work at the festival. Without performers, what would it be? I’d encourage people to visit the link above & have a read.

You need to be financially able to splash out on it, technically savvy & experienced in acquiring tickets to hugely in-demand events or know the right people who can get you access. For many acts, the first time they attend will be to perform. At the very least, they deserve a god damn ticket.

I think there is a huge lack of awareness inside the bubble of people who have been involved and attending for many decades about the privilege it has become over the years to do so.

No caveats, no “oh but it’s a special case and it’s been like this for years and it’s worth it and if you don’t like it don’t go”. Which disabled artist can endure this? Maybe some, but for a huge amount this is either impossible or would damage their bodies in the process. Why should they?

Because there is so much love for Glastonbury as a British institution which raises a lot for charity and is a cherished part of many lives, there is a reluctance to criticise. But to put it bluntly, no one should have to to work 3 8-hour shifts in exchange for access to play for free.

The uncomfortable truth about Glastonbury Some bands can take the hit of losing money to perform, but everyone else, from bookers to production staff to acts being asked to work bar shifts, is being short-changed, writes Oliver Keens, and it ...

Really great article about the realities of Glastonbury (excellent festival though it is) for smaller/emerging acts. How many working class and disabled artists are we not seeing at the festival? Urgent change is required. www.independent.co.uk/arts-enterta...

The worst YouTube adverts right now are the ones where people have taken their usual voiceover script and put it into Suno. NO THANK YOU.

Absolutely loved this video. They’re all so smart and passionate and I just love that they’re all making music together. I relate to a lot of what they say & how they think! youtu.be/KQ1MurGQHxA?...

One of the most cruel and greedy aspects of modern social media platforms is the deliberately reduced reach you get when you dare to promote an event or paste in a link. Who do they think they are? Why do they think we want to stay on here if they keep doing this stuff?

Excited to say my vinyls and merch will be available at The Merch Market in Manchester today. Head over to Brickhouse Social and look for the Sonic Boom Festival stall to find it 💓

My all-time favourite was someone turning themselves into a tree on Glow Up Ireland

Whenever any contestant ever decides to paint a lion on someone’s face (or their own) on Glow Up, you just know the moment they put the brush in the pan they’re in the face-off chair because they’ll say it looks like village fete face paint
