1/2 To maintain a firewall between official activity and campaign activity, state elected officials in Oregon are not allowed to use most of our legislative communications channels for the period 60 days before the May Primary and the November General Election. #ORleg #ORpol
3/3 In just five weeks, we passed legislation that delivered on every single one of those goals. I’m incredibly proud of the work we did to make Oregon stronger. Read more about our work in my most recent newsletter! #ORleg #ORpol buff.ly/v9NcNUA
2/3 We approached the session with 3 major goals: to make Oregon more affordable, with good jobs & thriving businesses; to insulate against Trump admin overreaches; and to rebalance our state budget after the federal budget bill (HR 1) cut our state's resources. #ORleg #ORpol
1/3 Before the session began, we laid out an agenda that was extremely ambitious for a short session. I’m pleased to say that we accomplished what we set out to do and more—far more than many thought possible at the beginning of February. #ORleg #ORpol buff.ly/v9NcNUA
2/2 HB 4107 helps fix one part of this much larger problem. Clear expectations for urgent care means people will get to the right place for care faster, take pressure off hospital ERs, & give Lane Co families more reliable options when they need care fast, but it’s not an emergency. #ORleg #ORpol
1/2 Many Lane County residents are struggling to access health care — there aren’t enough primary care providers to meet demand, PeaceHealh closed our Eugene hospital, and now PeaceHealth is making big, concerning changes to how they run their ER. #ORleg #ORpol

Today, Oregon honored the life and work of Avel Gordly, the first Black woman to serve in the Oregon State Senate. Thank you, Rep. Nelson, for your work ensuring that this giant of public service was properly memorialized, and for helping to carry her legacy forward in the legislature. #ORleg #ORpol
3/3 People who live, work & raise families here should be able to participate fully in our communities without fear or uncertainty. Strengthening these protections reflects Oregon’s values of fairness, safety, dignity & respect for all people, regardless of where they were born.
2/3 Oregon is a leader in immigrant justice--this session lawmakers passed bills aimed at building on that foundation, including measures to help students feel safe at school, protect personal information, and ensure law enforcement agents are identifiable. #ORleg #ORpol
1/3 I’m proud of the work we did this session to strengthen protections for our immigrant neighbors and respond to the disturbing immigration enforcement tactics we're seeing around the country. #ORleg #ORpol

4/4 It protects funding for schools, health care, hunger relief & public safety by closing loopholes that mostly benefit the wealthy and large corporations. In short, it lowers taxes for working families and provides support for local jobs & a stronger foundation for vital services. #ORleg #ORpol
3/4 This session we focused on balancing our budget, growing our economy, & helping make life more affordable for Oregonians. SB1507 cuts taxes for over 200,000 working households & gives a $25 million tax credit to businesses that create good-paying jobs in Oregon. #ORleg #ORpol
2/4 Because Oregon’s tax code is automatically tied to the federal code, those changes hit our state budget too—blowing a $900 million hole in the budget without any from from Oregonians or the legislature. #ORleg #ORpol
1/4 Last year, Pres. Trump signed a budget bill that gave huge breaks to billionaires and big corporations, while cutting funding for people who rely on Medicaid and food assistance. #ORleg #ORpol

4/4 These programs are reaching students across the state, and many districts are partnering with community organizations to make sure even more students can participate and succeed. Consistent, evidence-based investments in education matter. #ORleg #ORpol
3/4 Nearly 30,000 students participated in summer programs in 2025, and most showed real learning gains. That’s exactly what this funding was meant to do: deliver measurable results for kids, families, and communities. #ORleg #ORpol
2/4 More than three-quarters of schools reported students maintained or improved their reading and writing skills, and 80% of high school students in credit-recovery programs earned credits they need to graduate. #ORleg #ORpol
1/4 Last year, we made a major investments in literacy by locking in $35 million a year for summer learning programs across Oregon. It’s really gratifying to see those investments paying off. #ORleg #ORpol

2/2 As federal policies threaten health care, food assistance, clean energy, & immigrant communities, state leaders are stepping up. We’re protecting Medicaid & SNAP, defending privacy and reproductive freedom, growing good-paying jobs, and balancing the budget. #ORleg #ORpol
1/2 I was pleased to join @SenProzanski and @city_eugene last month to talk about our priorities for the 2026 legislative session! buff.ly/cR5wMMf #ORleg #ORpol
Just before the start of this legislative session, Senate Pres. Rob Wagner & I joined Your Voice Your Vote to talk about the legislative session & our priorities to balance the budget, lower the cost of living, & respond to federal overreach. buff.ly/W1fzUn5 #ORleg #ORpol
2/2 State leaders are responding by finding efficiencies, making careful reductions, & closing tax loopholes for big corporations and the wealthy. In balancing the budget, we’re prioritizing Oregon families, small businesses, essential services, & growing our economy. #ORleg ORpol
1/2 I was excited to join Dave Miller on @opb.org's Think Out Lout to discuss balancing our state budget. In July 2025 the Big Ugly Bill blew an almost $900M hole in it—and it’s not a one-time hit. We’re facing years of massive cuts to Medicaid and SNAP. #ORpol #ORleg buff.ly/EAu5ux0
2/2 I want to thank @rickiruizor.bsky.social for his tireless advocacy for them, and for all of our immigrant neighbors in Oregon. #ORpol #ORleg
1/2 Such an honor to meet the Crespo-González family yesterday, esp young Diana—I was thrilled to welcome them to their Capitol. These Oregonians have shown such courage & fortitude after being detained by ICE while seeking urgent medical care for Diana. buff.ly/lFki8U3 #ORleg #ORpol
3/3 This year, we also must do our best to insulate Oregon from the actions of our federal govt – from the campaign of fear and intimidation ICE is waging in our streets to the impacts Republicans’ Big Ugly Bill will have on healthcare, anti-hunger programs & more. #ORleg #ORpol
2/3 In even-numbered years, session lasts just 35 days & typically focuses on budget adjustments, emergent issues, and technical fixes to laws passed in the previous long session. That’s challenging work in a short timeframe, even in the best of times. #ORleg #ORpol
1/3 The 2026 session is underway! It was a pleasure to join Michael Dunn for @klccoregon.bsky.social's Oregon On the Record to discuss our ambitious agenda for this short legislative session.

We cannot allow any of this to become normalized. As Oregonians, we need to stand together in peace, unity, and urgency to speak out against the terror being inflicted on us.
