Without starting a fight, may I just say that if you deeply and profoundly understand the need for human contact as a result of Covid, you might consider doing something to help the people still at high risk from Covid access it, instead of acting in ways that excludes and isolates them.

Reading 'Your Data Will Be Used Against You' now - highly recommend!
I hate the speech too. And I hate even more that it doesn’t seem to make any difference and they all use AI anyway.
I’m reading To Catch a Fascist now - it’s really good!
And studies repeatedly show women are at higher risk for developing COVID!
I also take gabapentin for nerve issues and it has saved my life. Nerve issues are so much worse at night, and the not being able to sleep plus the actual nerve symptoms caused a lot of suicidal thoughts. I’m grateful for it!
This sounds exactly like something that would happen (probably is happening) at my Uni.
Thank you so much for all of this amazing research. Hoping all your reviews go smoothly!
Could?! ARE!
Reporting is typically slow, so this number will go up.
At this time last year, reported deaths were 134, and rose to 293 over time.
Screenshot from a digital newspaper in Virginia. The headline reads “KKK recruitment flyers delivered to homes in Winchester at the start of Black History Month.”
This happened in Virginia in 2024 and has happened fairly regularly over the years. They’re still definitely active.

What do you think the biggest challenge will be in promoting change to this behavior with this clientele?
Given your future career goals and scope of competency within that profession, which at-risk behavior do you foresee impacting clients you will work with the most? How might you go about helping these clients attempt change as the professional you hope to be?

I teach undergrad students going into the health professions, and their own use is rampant now.
Can’t imagine that would suddenly change if/when they make it to grad school…they’re already reliant on it. It is terrifying.
It’s Long Covid Awareness Day, and my sixth anniversary of being sick from it. My first impulse for commemorating this was to set all the meds and treatments I’ve tried to the tune of We Didn’t Start the Fire, or Tom Lehrer’s The Elements (which uses I Am the Very Model of A Modern Major General).
This is hilarious and terrifying for how accurate it is

I am the only person who 😷s in my workplace and this is 💯 accurate
This is amazing and so much better because of the accent. I could listen to him say “shitty” all day.
When was this recorded? Thanks for sharing it.
Just added that book to my reading list!
Personally, I don't think babies should die if we can take steps to prevent viral transmission before they have a chance to get vaccinated. Like wearing a mask. Or improving indoor air quality.

My money is on kale…
A few small patches of purple crocus flowers are shown against grass that is mostly brown and strewn with leaves.
The first of the crocuses (croci?) are up!

I hope it's shingles and I hope it's fu$%ing painful.
things every single republican president of your lifetime has done
- started a war in the middle east
- completely destroyed the economy
Not everything is COVID; but it's not nothing either.
may promote cancer growth and accelerates all kinds of disease, and negatively impacts the brain causing increased mental health issues like anxiety and depression.
Today, for the first time in 14 years I've been employed here, we got an email alerting campus to an outbreak of respiratory illness.
