I mean, if you're going to be a NIMBY, at least be entertaining. Julie's got that on lock.

Mr. Soros is a little hung over from celebrating Orban’s defeat, but he says he’ll send a check.
Right, that's the bridge, and the street is called Nørrebrogade.
You may be correct. But some Europeans I've talked to think it's funny when Americans have a lifestyle heavily geared around bike advocacy (guilty as charged!)
A lot of U.S. bicycle advocates are unaware people in countries where bike commuting is the norm think it's kind of odd we identify that way. It's sort of like telling an American "I'm a shoe activist."

Sad news: "The Rainbow Tiger," called that because it once had multicolored parts, died on the way home from the "Life After Cars" event in Evanston. I'll soon reincarnate it. Frame was weakened last Nov. from a run-in w/ a Trumper in front of an Iranian restaurant, a tale I may share in the future.
In fairness, I think Central Casting did a great of finding the actors to play the opponents to Chicago's Archer Avenue traffic safety project. They're hilarious! (I'm kidding here.)

Yep, he's a 🦕 (Democrat In Name Only).
Yesterday I met up at Jimmy's Red Hots with stand-up comedian Chris Damen, who's visiting the places highlighted in the Iconic Chicago Restaurants Map that Steve Shanabruch & I made for the Reader.

As you’d guess, fun scenes on the Bloomingdale Trail / 606 earlier this afternoon. But when it’s nice out and crowded, don’t try to ride anywhere fast on this elevated greenway. Instead, head a couple blocks north to Armitage Avenue.

Fun Critical Mass Friday. It spent 2 miles on Western, which was oddly relaxing. It ended at Seward Park where a doo-wap group, later The Impressions, w/ Curtis Mayfield and future Cook County Commissioner Jerry "The Iceman" Butler, won a talent show. 1/2

Speaking of my "Iconic Chicago Restaurants Map"

...I heard from comic Chris Damen, who has a project to visit all of the eateries I picked in Chicago's 77 community areas. Very Cool! Check out his photos on IG: www.instagram.com/damen79/

Images of the rallies by Alfredo Villadares Jr. and Gil Campos.
Yesterday I posted about Monday's dueling rallies for/against the Archer project in Brighton Park. All the supporters were SW Siders, and outnumbered the 3 opponents, one of whom is an aldermanic candidate.
"How about you stay on the North Side?" said a (presumed) BP resident.
"Too late!" I said.

Coming to a coffee table near you: "Chicago in Transit" by Graham Chapman has lots of cool photos of car-free commutes in the Windy City. It would make a great gift for the walk/bike/transit/river taxi fan in your life!

Just as long as you weren't trying to use that word as a stand-in / rhyme for an anti-gay derogatory term. It sounds like that wasn't your intention, but people might assume it was, so let's be careful about that.
Hey, I don’t know if this was intentional, but let’s be sure not to use any homophobic slurs against the alder - he deserves credit for being an out LGBTQ man. Besides, there’s plenty of other stuff to make fun of him for!
Sure, the Archer project opponents you mention are on the wrong side of the issue. But, in fairness, they are kind of hilarious!

Oh right! 😂
Wait, it actually looks like there were *three* people with turquoise green hair at Wilson Station yesterday. Did I miss the CTA press release about National #SeaPunk Day?

But although I was a CDOT consultant long ago, and they usually due good walk/bike/transit projects nowadays, don't worry, I don't hesitate to critique the department's work when warranted. (2/X)
Aw, my old supervisor at the Chicago Department of Transportation, back when I was Bike Parking Czar, in a previous life (she also left the department long ago) "liked" this post. (1/X)

Here's the SPLC article about the closed-door meeting after the last election, hosted where by "Proud Boys associate" Terry Newsome, with border czar Tom Homan, where Lopez helped plan the immigration crackdown on the Latino community of Brighton Park.
Yes, he left off the "but he was lying" part of Trump's various policy stands. Rangel could have said it more succinctly as, "He appealed to haters, a quality which, alas, Latinos are not immune."
This whole Archer Avenue drama would be a juicy topic for a column. I think you could put an interesting slant on this story about one of Chicago's diagonal streets, NPI. #JustSayin'
Wow, it sounds like the other Ozinga brothers have really cemented their position that they don't want Marty to be supreme!
Yup, biking on the Riverwalk is only possible in winter and/or off-peak times, or else security will stop you, and the layout and heavy foot traffic are issues. Frustrating, because it was funded as a bike route, and still appears as such on the CDOT bike map.

Thanks to @johngreenfield.bsky.social for showing me Chicago's best bike infrastructure.
