Ugh. I wish I were surprised but I’m not. Very stupid that these primaries are decided by the party.

*rubs temples furiously* here we fuckin go again
I am an MDP member, but recovery from cancer treatment has been a long haul. I do not have the energy to spend an entire day at the convention tomorrow before a busy work week and even if I did, I’m not sure I’d want to go anyway. I’m feeling pretty repulsed by the entire thing…
This UM regent primary is wild…
We're in federal court blocking the largest broadcast merger in U.S. history. But corporate consolidation is only half the problem.
Congress cut $1.1 billion from public media and hasn't restored a dime. The FY2027 appropriations process is moving now.
Take action with us:
in which many people still cannot comprehend (or accept) how marketing + PR works. the tools are just different now!
Screenshot of a Facebook post from Michigan Senator Elissa Slotkin that reads, “I believe in a national public insurance plan that can help anyone at any age. A system that actually rewards you for taking care of yourself before you get sick. A system that has lower costs for better care.”
Did Senator Elissa Slotkin just soft launch her eugenics platform? I guess my recent bout of breast cancer was my fault?
Ypsi-area folks: Anyone have any more information about the ICE abduction that happened in front of Encuentro Latino this morning?

The discourse is beyond obnoxious. "Many Serious People" in Michigan politics (many of whom trend toward support of Haley Stevens) seem to be pushing the narrative that any criticism of AIPAC is antisemitic.
I... just... what are we doing here?
BREAKING: Trump announces two week window for Congress to remove him from office
This will constantly be evolving, but:

Andy Shauf, Norm (2023)
Turnstile, NEVER ENOUGH (2025)
The president is clearly threatening multiple nuclear strikes. I don't see why we're not discussing impeachment proceedings or, in lieu of that, military activity intended to prevent such an attack.
I'm generally of the opinion that we believe people when they tell us, then act accordingly.
Will Democrats do anything at all this week beyond strongly worded letters and telling us that we can still reach across the aisle to get things done with a party that supports this racist, dementia-addled pants shitter?
Here's part of the problem. This is a *Democrat* responding to a beyond-unhinged social media post by a POTUS that needs to be removed. *He's a danger to the planet.*
Where is the five alarm fire? 🚨🔥

The Abdul/Hasan/#MISen primary discourse is why I had to leave politics in a nutshell.
*rubs temples* These next two and a half years will be … something
I cannot stress enough how much I hate it here
Now if we could just get progressive podcastsphere to talk more about the Michigan Senate primary than Pl*tn*r, that would be great...
Michigan polling is notoriously terrible, but it can't be an accident that I see some of Haley's top boosters on Facebook posting more about her primary opponents than their preferred candidate's record or strengths...
I am not pointing this comment at anyone in particular, but: The TSA line has already been a fraught place for brown and Black travelers for as long as it has been around. The racism might get worse tomorrow, but it isn’t going to start tomorrow. That is all.
remains wild to me that the GOP is the party that's actually treating their opponents like they're an immediate and dire threat that must be eliminated at all costs meanwhile the Dems are like "hmm not sure I totally agree with all of this but let's hear these guys out, just in case"
Good morning from Aruba…
The music supervision budget on Love Story must be insane lmfao... Primal Scream, Cocteau Twins, Talk Talk, Peter Gabriel, En Vogue, and The Motels all in the first episode?
idk where I’m going with this, but maybe it’s ultimately that the bar is so low for white men, and it continues to be exhausting to be made out to be a traitor for raising these issues with Platner!
I am begging people to pay attention to MI: a 3-way primary, with a deeply uncharismatic & Schumer-coronated candidate in Stevens — running a tired, 2012 playbook campaign in 2026. I think she’s an extremely weak statewide candidate.
El-Sayed’s got my vote. McMorrow’s still better than Stevens.
Why the Senate? Not another elected office first? He truly couldn’t be assed to check if he was reposting a Nazi?
At the end of the day, Platner seems to be polling well. It’s deeply white Maine.
So why are so many progressives still falling over themselves to defend this guy?
But at a certain point, it really just shouldn’t be that much of an affront to the progressive cause to ask:
How many times will we make excuses for dumb, unforced errors and signals that this guy continues to flirt with straight-up Nazis?
Of course, I believe that evolution and growth from radicalized beliefs is possible. I’m friends with — and married to! — those who grew up in deeply right-wing, pro-life, racist Christian households.
Platner is also arguably better than F*tt*rm*n was on the stump. Engaged, goes deeper on the issues, carries slightly more intellectual heft while still sounding “normal.”
I get it. Collins constant walking of the “will-she-won’t-she defy Trump?” red line is exhausting. It’s perfect red meat for national progressive donors. Mills is old! Too old!
I see the Platner dialogue is still going strong.
My beef: Like F*tt*rm*n before him, his campaign is getting outsized coverage over equally compelling candidates like El-Sayed in MI because he’s “not like” the other politicians. “Cool guy!” Oysters!
