A hand holding a rectangular sticker based on the California flag. Its primarily white, with a red back at the bottom and a red star in the top left corner. Instead of a bear, there is a brown saber tooth cat in the middle facing the left. Beneath it is text that says "CALIFORNIA REPUBLIC".
A sticker of a brown dire wolf skull facing right with text around it reading "I love (heart) REAL Dire Wolves". The sticker is sitting in a green bush with small purple flowers.

A painted illustration of Gin, from the series Ginga: Nagareboshi Gin. He is a blueish-grey and white dog with pointy ears and a wavy tail. He is in a running position with his head turning over his shoulder and smiling.

Had so much fun doing this con-going bad guy 🐻
An illustration of several amphicyonids (bear dogs) from left to right: Amphicyon ingens, Daphoenodon robustus, Daphoenus lambei, Ammitocyon kainos, and Gustafsonia cognita. They are all colored after various bear hounds from the Ginga series: Gin (grey and white), Weed (blue and white), Riki (brown and yellow), Orion (orange and white), and Shiro (pale grey) respectively.
Some Amphicyonids (bear dogs) I illustrated to go alongside an article I wrote for Silver Fang Magazine issue no. 9!
Shop updates:
Initially I wanted to come off Etsy hiatus in time for the holidays but unfortunately it looks like I may not re-open my Etsy until 2026 due to personal matters. Thanks for your patience. ❤️
I'm still alive BTW! I loved doing these little cartoon turtles for Tristan's poster
Two illustrations of a green lynx spider (green spider with two bigger forward facing eyes and lighter colored legs) stacked on top of one another. The one on top is labeled "Green Lynx Spider (Peucetia viridans)", the actual name of the spider. The one below is wearing a green, pointy hat, carrying a blue shield and sword drawn to look like the Hylian shield and Master sword from the "Legend of Zelda", series and is labeled "Green Link Spider (Peucetia hylia)".
I work in an exhibit with live spiders, and I think I have lost count how often people misheard "green lynx spider" as "green link spider"...

An image of the California flag, but instead of a brow bear on green grass, it is a brown duckbill dinosaur (Augustynolophus morrisi) on brown ground with two green ferns. Like a normal California flag, the background is white with a red bar on the very bottom of the flag. Between the duckbill and the red bar reads "CALIFORNIA REPUBLIC", and there is a red star in the upper left hand corner.

(I know brown bears were around in the Pleistocene, but let me have this.)
An image of the California flag, but instead of a brow bear on green grass, it is a brown saber tooth cat (Smilodon fatalis) on the same grass. Like a normal California flag, the background is white with a red bar on the very bottom of the flag. Between the saber tooth and the red bar reads "CALIFORNIA REPUBLIC", and there is a red star in the upper left hand corner.

If you were eyeing something from my store, consider grabbing it soon!

"what is a Triceratops?" with a drawing of a brown Triceratops skull
"most people would say Triceratops is a species of dinosaur..." with a drawing of a green triceratops in profile view
"...but there are actually two* known species of Triceratops!" "*currently accepted" with a drawing of the previous green Triceratops looking surprised at a more yellowish Triceratops walking into frame
"Triceratops is actually a genus - the level above species" with drawings of both the green and yellow Triceratops from before in profile view. The green one has a blunter horn and wavy horns and is labeled "Triceratops horridus" and the yellow one has horns curved forwards with a longer horn and is labeled "Triceratops prorsus".

i think its a good reminder to folks in our science nerd circles that the difference between genus and species is not common knowledge! this is something i had to explain to my biochemist mom.
"but it's fun to imagine how different members of the same genus may have looked!" with a drawing of the two triceratops from before but now T. prorsus is green with a red dewlap, dark stripes, an quills and T. horridus is a solid orange with a lighter underbelly.
what is a triceratops? 3/3
"a genus is generic, while a species is specific. kind of how 'facial tissues' is a generic name and 'Kleenex' is a specific brand." with an illustration of a family tree labeled "facial tissues" with lines to a blue tissue box labeled "Kleenex" and a green tissue box labeled "Puffs".
"when it comes to fossils, we often think of members of the same genus as being one and the same..." with an illustration of a blue and red Stegosaurus saying "3 species", a tan spotted Smilodon labeled "3 species", and a green and red Dimetrodon labeled "13-14 species".
"...while modern species within a genus are easily differentiated." with a drawing of a tiger labeled "Panthera tigris" and a lion labeled "Panthera leo"
"well, sometimes." with an illustration of a coyote (Canis latrans) turning to look confused as someone calls it a wolf (Canis lupus)

An illustration of a brown gorgonopsid (an ancient carnivorous mammal relative) in a trotting pose on a light brown/tan background.
lycaenops ornatus 🐺
A stylized illustration of a tan Gorgonops with a dark marking covering most of its face and stripes along its body featuring light blue highlights.
Back at it with another solo piece, this time for @sootychinchilla.art !
I simultaneously am frustrated with my art style and also don't know what my style is. Style is weird.
Some Pleistocene critters enjoying some ice cream!
An illustration of a large pack of dogs of various sizes and breeds running towards the camera in a snowy scene. The pack stretches far back into the distance into snowy mountains. In the top right corner, a polar bear and three other dogs are looming over the scene. Over two twin mountain peaks is red text: 義勇一心 (Giyū isshin) which translates to brave and wholehearted).
And now for the real reason I haven't been posting many attacks... I was working on this! 🐕 A #ginga mass attack featuring 38 characters!
I can't tag everyone in this post, so view the piece here!
