Event information for the Association for Psychosocial Studies 2026 Annual Conference. The top features a blue and red abstract ink-style banner and an infinity symbol logo. The title is "Trust, Mistrust and Community: Call for Papers," taking place 12-13th June 2026 at St Mary’s University, London. The text describes the psychosocial dynamics of trust, digital infrastructures, and "dystopian imaginaries." It invites submissions from clinicians and academics for papers and creative productions. Saddened to learn that First Monday will cease publication. It was a quality open-access journal that eschewed the traps of big publishing and promoted innovative thinking & research regarding tech and society. #academicsky

is Spotify (and its distribution partners) retaliating against artists who boycott?

Academics are under unrelenting pressure to accept the narrative of the inevitability of #generativeAI & to embrace it in teaching & learning. We resist - because it is ecologically destructive, ethically corrupt, & because it undermines the thinking abilities that make us both human & intelligent.
This is one of the most beautiful things I have witnessed, the craft here is impeccable.
This fits perfectly, as the default aesthetic of #AIslop already owes a lot to Kinkade: If you look at algorithmically curated databases used to fine-tune AI models such as «LAION aesthetics,» you'll find Kinkade's paintings ranked higher than almost anything else in terms of «aesthetic score»

Penned by Thomas Mann for Freud’s 80th birthday:
“A thinker and investigator who knew how to stand alone and then drew many to him and with him, he went his way and penetrated to truths which seemed dangerous because they revealed what had been anxiously hidden, and illumined dark places.
