Roberts & Co. are also forever giving the lower courts shit for not being able to predict how the conservative majority is going to play each successive round of Calvinball. It’s not their fault that SCOTUS is a right wing super legislature now.

Caitlyn Jenner asks Trump for help after impact of trans passport policy "I can’t travel internationally anymore. I can’t use my passport," Caitlyn Jenner told Tomi Lahren in a recent interview.

this is of course an injustice but it's a net good that Jenner is feeling the visceral pain of her own choices

How Mikie Sherrill Won Latino Voters Back for Democrats The governor-elect’s focus on targeting and mobilizing voters in areas with high Hispanic populations helped her undo Trump’s gains among these voters in 2024.

Another feather in the cap for Make The Road Action NJ, whose organizational efforts helped Mikie Sherrill win the statehouse. If you want to win back Latino voters from the GOP, talk to them, because they're doing it.

A lot will depend on what proportion of Swalwell voters were specifically drawn to Swalwell and how many backed him solely because he was perceived as the likeliest to win

Crucially, Mr. Magyar made corruption a core campaign issue. He had spent more than 20 years as a member of Mr. Orban’s Fidesz party, rising to senior roles in state-controlled institutions. But Mr. Magyar quit Fidesz in early 2024 to protest a scandal involving the government’s pardon of a well-connected former official who had sexually abused boys. Mr. Magyar said he was disgusted by the corruption, and he gave a viral interview in which he claimed that “a few families own half the country.” He then joined the Tisza party and rose to become its leader.

great to hear that the editors have finally caught wind of the fact that Trump is corrupt many years behind the rest of us; a suggestion: direct your staff to more often say this in plain English and leave off the dedication to sanewashing him

The campaign platform of the party Mr. Magyar leads, Tisza, was titled “Foundations of a Functional and Humane Hungary.” It criticized the inefficiency of government services. Its agenda included tax cuts for working-class families, expanded health care, increased pensions, larger child benefits and a pay increase for support staff members at schools. It said it would help pay for these programs through both a wealth tax on the very rich and the recovery of European Union transfer payments reduced because of Mr. Orban’s anti-democratic policies. Mr. Magyar’s party spread its campaign themes in innovative ways through social media, making Mr. Orban’s state-run media messaging look old and tired.

The NYT edit board's "How To Defeat Trumpism" blog is an intrigiung artifact. This whole "how Magyar did it" recounting includes a whole paragraph of stuff to which this edit board would be frothingly hostile if a Democrat proposed it
