oh also the use of computer vision in cancer research, that's a big one that has a lot of personal meaning to me

And in comes nvidia with a perfect example of what i dont like about generative ai, supersampling can be neat in some specific hardware cases to get the most out of them, but if i want to actually filter the look of my game that's not supersampling and who can even afford a card that can do that rn.

AI has never and will never be a silver bullet for anything, but the benefits it has in accessibility and as a tool for structured work like code are really making me wonder if my hardline dislike for generative ai should shift to the commoditization of it as a snakeoil panacea.

and something unexpected I found while trying claude code was how well it keeps my adhd on track, which i could absolutely see being both amazing, and then equally awful if i ever become too complicit in overly trusting the output and digging myself into a hole of code i couldnt hope to understand

Plagiarism itself doesnt exactly explain it, more like the cheapening of passion that it encourages while also plagiarising. But also it's silly to ignore how good computer vision can be for those with accessibility needs. But maybe im just nostalgic of being 14 messing with a mtg card transformer..

My main issue with gen ai is with plagiarism of creative content and the reckless disregard for regulation or forethought that seems to permeate the space. And its use in warfare and cases of psychosis are great examples of outcomes that befall this attitude.
