It used to be hilariously easy - back when we were all being warned off Wikipedia as a big scary threat to academic standards.

Beautiful day to be en route to Oxford to talk ethics and future food systems at this year’s LEAP conference! Looking forward to hearing such a great diversity of presentations: www.futureoffood.ox.ac.uk/sitefiles/le...

Now I am wondering how Great Tit family law differs across jurisdictions.

Ireland is playing a dangerous game with food security.
'The policies of successive governments have prioritised an export-led agricultural system leveraging the big beasts of beef and dairy, while ignoring the needs of our indigenous veg and fruit growers.'

Where does he find the time?
A painting by Joe Lycett of a pink swordfish swimming, with the caption 'See it, Say it, Swordfish'.
Wow this looks like a really relevant and urgent project given the latest news: www.theguardian.com/environment/...

Mary Midgley would have sorted us all out.
Not at all! I think he is only accidentally right, in the sense that ‘continental philosophy’ does seem to be a nonsensical geographical categorisation. But I think you’re right that he hasn’t thought about it in any nuanced way & he’s being unfairly dismissive, probably of philosophy in general.
I suppose my point was that he is right, despite himself. The ‘continental’ category is more about style or methodology than origin or subject of study. The distinction seemed to emerge as a way of siphoning off any non-analytic approaches - ironically with the same derisive spirit of Dawkins here.
Do you know Phoria?
Joyfully hosting this lecture, @tcddublin.bsky.social, in a couple weeks!
Good Evening, Bluesky.
Nice 👍
Even the analytic category of continental philosophy is not region specific, though.
He’s right though, isn’t he?
I’m happy to be joining the good people at the Livestock Environment and People conference next week. I’ll be presenting on and discussing ‘The ethics of future food systems: alternative proteins, ‘naturalness’, and relational values.’ Also looking forward to exploring beautiful Worcester College 🤩
The Pope is weak on crime. The Dalai Lama has no ideas for growing GDP. The Archbishop of Canterbury has failed on municipal parking reform. The Patriarch of Constantinople must act to address the biodiversity crisis
"Pope Leo is WEAK on Crime" is objectively a funny thing to write.
No ports - No food.
Ireland is neither food or fodder secure. Most of what we eat is imported & the food we produce is dependant on imports of fodder & fertilizers.
Irish farmers aren't to blame for this but simplistic narratives won't help untangle this mess.

Listen to me talk about the importance of doing nothing with the lovely people of the TLS podcast. Or don't, I'm not a cop

I've created a list for Bluesky users who were part of philosophy Twitter back in the day. Help me populate it! Also happy to add people who wish they had been part of the old community. I've added a few names already. (Ask if you'd like to be removed.) bsky.app/profile/did:...
