winamp is no longer what people use to listen to music on computers. society is now collapsing. the connection is obvious
I think most streaming series that would get to that length would just become a miniseries at this point
Which arguably a lot of 3-hour movies should have been in the first place
It was frustrating, honestly
Since this blew up let's clarify that there are good 3 hour movies.
There are also 3 hour movies that would have been great 90 minute movies but were terrible 3 hour movies.
To not stray from the initial LOTR praise, let's pick on Peter Jackson: The Hobbit Trilogy.
Thank you for your time.
Shit.
I messed up.
I'm sorry.
I never said it was the "first good three hour movie." I said that other films took the wrong lesson away from its success.
Historically there were plenty of longer films, but before LOTR was the start of a trend that brought films of that era from 90-120 minutes to 180-200 minutes.
Intermissions need to come back, absolutely agree.
Put a little countdown clock on there. Make it rad, but not important if you're not there. No Easter eggs, just something cool to see when you get back from the restroom and snack run.
The best Zelda games have "Link" in the English title.
Especially the first one to do it.
(I am not joking)
Lord of the Rings ruined modern cinema because it was good enough to be 3 hours long, but all the movies it inspired to be longer than 90 minutes weren't good enough to be longer than 90 minutes
but your favorite thing isn't my favorite thing so it's wrong and I do battle with it
Like you have my attention, why are you making it HARDER for me to do business with you?
Is it because these are all scams and hustles?
Sure seems like it.
Clown shit.
I've taken to DM'ing these accounts.
I asked a kettleball guy, "Hey dude I appreciate the hustle but you made me take a quiz that goes to another quiz. Can you just tell me how much it costs so I can figure out if I can afford it?"
His response? Just "lol."
Bitch I'm trying to give you money
Everything on Instagram takes me to a quiz
Wanna lose weight? Take this quiz.
Need therapy? Take this quiz.
Wanna learn to skateboard? Quiz.
Please just tell me how much your scam costs -- don't make me take a fake quiz to schedule a zoom call just so you can ask me for $3,000 I don't have.
PSA: SUPERMAN SMASHES THE KLAN, one of the best superhero comics ever made, is FREE TO READ all this month on DC Universe Infinite.
...that said there's a lot of AI trash on YouTube music's recommendations.
Not a lot of good options right now.
Google abandoned the "don't be evil" mantra a long time ago, but I tried using ad supported YTmusic as a free alternative, but it pauses if you turn your phone screen off.
On the other hand, that's so anti consumer I don't feel guilty about using Brave browser to bypass it...
Yeah, I support artists directly whenever I can, but I can't afford to replace 3000 songs a la carte. I figure ripping from the library is the most ethical way to.. do they without paying. At least it supports a public good.
Currently I'm trying to build a library for a dedicated FLAC player by borrowing music from the public library.
They did win out on the social good scale though.
I was going to try Deezer but one of the owners is apparently pretty pro genocide. It's been though finding a good music replacements. Bad people own everything.
Qobuz had great quality, but the recommendation engine and search was lackluster.
It does offer a lot of international music I never encountered before, which was interesting, but I found myself not exploring much because the features were bad.

Reading a newsletter.
Came across a line they made it almost certain it was written by AI
Unsubscribed.
Ffs just say you're with "the American people," you're there to ask questions not answer them
This song came out in 2010, but I came across it during the erh days of covid.
It's exactly what those days felt like to me.

I just got an email from Arnold Schwarzenegger's fitness newsletter that boasted that the muscle man who's full-time job was working out and being in shape never counted calories so I shouldn't have to either
And my dude
Right. There is no breaking point for their side.
It's different to imagine, but it's also very clearly true.
