I'm in the UK. Hearing all the stories from the US though makes me so glad that we have healthcare that isn't run on profits.

I don't think it's necessary to be honest. He ran through about 5 different options and he was very clear with the potential complications with my case. This was a different Dr btw from the one 15 years ago.
I'm so sorry you had that experience. The care for women is shocking. Thankfully my consultant is extremely pro HRT and told me in no uncertain terms I should go on it.
I haven't had coffee yet. 100% read that as a tote bag to carry your kitty in. π
I tell you what though. There's nothing like the replies from Americans to health news to make you love free at the point of access health care.
I've never been so glad of the NHS as when I talk to (sorry, assuming here) Americans.
100% using the term full spay from now on though. π
Oh crumbs. Was this a good few years ago? Some people I know say they expect to be on her their whole lives now. I am not looking forward to it at all but I'm hoping the hrt helps. I'm not far off that age so feels less daunting.
I'm trying not to think about the what ifs. It's hard though.
Just waiting for all the info to come through on it. It has hrt built into it so it will be interesting to see how it all works out.
It will be about a year before I have it most likely. Thankfully the medical menopause drugs include hrt so I'm hopeful the ride won't be too bad. π€
Even Molly is crossing her paws for you.
Keeping every single thing I can crossed for you. π€π€

Today was our first summer outing when we visited Wild Flower Alley in South Belfast. This community project has turned antisocial alleyways into peaceful green havens. It was also a Day of action for Nature Parkβs and Green Spaces. #VoteForNature #DayOfAction
They don't let you do it without HRT these days.
It was strange dealing with a Dr who actually listened to me. I was only referred to him because my GP thought I had a pancreatic issue so had ordered a CT which showed a cyst on my cervix. He was surprised I hadn't been referred before. I had taken "some women just have pain" too much to heart.
That's so good to hear. π
HRT is built into this treatment. It would be funny if this actually helps the brain fog and word finding issues I have these days. π
15 years of ignoring all the weird symptoms because a Dr dismissed my endometriosis symptoms abd just didn't look hard enough.
Today I've been told I'll need a full hysterectomy.
In the meantime I'll be put in medical menopause. So that should be fun for you all.
My husband's aunt has a box of receipts and invitations from the Victorian age which now x lives in my house. I find it fascinating. I really should find somewhere to send it so it can be a part of proper history.
Why does society fetishise violence so much? It is one of those things that I am sure will be our downfall as a species.
Surely someone can come up with some questions that really test people's knowledge of social history in an exam setting?
I just accept that the beginnings of real interest in history is going to be lost to The Boy. He'll get it back when he's older like I did.
The experiences of every day people isn't as worthy as that of the wars.
And I would bet a lot of money that the experiences of people during the wars was a side note to learning about the war generals.
And then she talked about people using the ancient world in their propaganda - both left and right.
She commented on people studying the ancient world having to look this fact in the eye.
She is genuinely one of the most interesting, thoughtful academics to listen to.
Listening to Mary Beard on Radio 4 talking about the history of ordinary people.
I've been having this conversation with The Boy recently. He loves history but he hates the wars and killing. Why don't we learn more about ordinary lives while studying history?
It's insane! But these kids were stupidly rich. I had the vice president of AOL's daughter in my bunk (this was summer of 2000). She was actually one of the more normal kids.
That's what the parents pay for their kids to go. When I did it we got flights and transfers paid and about Β£250 for the whole summer. Working 6 days a week with barely any time away from the kids. I'm guessing the camp your friend's kid worked at isn't quite so bad if he wants to go back.
Just looked up the camp fees for the camp I worked at. It costs about $19,000 for 7 weeks. π±
Just thinking about my summer in America working at a summer camp for rich spoilt kids.
I wonder if those camps are struggling to recruit international staff. Because the camp I worked at was at least 90% international workers.
I certainly wouldn't let my kid go to the US to work these days.
They are for homogeneity though. As long as it looks and acts like them.
I loved nonfiction books as a kid and still do. For the longest time I thought I just didn't like reading because at school nonfiction wasn't really counted as reading, particularly when it came to GCSEs. I just love real life stories. I'm not sure what that says about me! π
