I know folks are kinda "Aaa! not a self insert!"
I'm too old and jaded to give a fuck.

All characters are an aspect of their creator in some way.

I just know- with intention what these characters represent and write them with that in mind.

It was very much a "What do you mean I gotta write this myself?!" Moment.

Zari no matter how much the narrative has changed her initial character. She still very much is me writing my own experience, for my own pleasure.

But his character also changed a lot to fit the narrative I was writing. He has come to represent something narratively that I hope will be more clear in the coming chapter.

She's got my confidence, creative and big dreamer energy for sure.

Vel was originally a TES OC. Made him with no real purpose. I think he is kind of a mix of both indulgence and narrative. I gave him my positive traits of responsibility and dedication. A love of purple and tasting random stuff.

From Zari's creation I knew she at least had a GF or a best friend, Mareen fit the role perfectly as the best friend and GF in one character. Mareen was created directly for a narrative but the more I write about her the more indulgent she is.

Zari was 100% for indulgence. I wanted to make a character to draw a bunch of monsterfucker art with. I ended up playing myself though when I put them and Vel in a picture together. I could immediately see a story.

I was so mad that I hadn't seen this story somewhere else first.

Oh yes! So incredibly intimate to have a story be able to make you feel empathetic.

Thank you! I'm glad it was felt towards the end of the latest chapter! Absolutely trying my hardest to learn what I can while I draw this story because it will probably take me 10 years to draw.

Being able to tell a story where you don’t need to know what the character is thinking to feel what they are experiencing. I’m trying to experiment with that a lot in OAR.

I also love sharing stories.
