Literal cartel

Yes, a rebellion. I returned to physical media bc I didn’t want the tech industry able to pull access to art I loved at a whim, and I don’t want to fund their fascist dystopia or have my data sucked up and sold by one more entity. Any “inconvenience” is the result of trying to be sane in a mad time.
Seems reasonable
Jesus was crucified with two thieves, and remarked to one of them “Today you will be with me in paradise.” Which also might be soft on crime.
We agreed lots to be proud of too! But also very different than what we’d envisioned or been led to expect.
Absolutely not. Had a long conversation with a friend today about how a lot of things haven’t turned out the way we’d hoped, largely due to structural changes and unpredictable events (like a pandemic) out of our control, and trying to grieve the nebulous losses without undue self-blame.
Thanks for doing it anyway.
You’ve had 250 years to think of it!

They’ll start whining about how no one is spending money any more when folks start cut their nonessential spending.
😂😂😂
I’m at the tail end of a “few weeks” construction project that’s lasted 4 months, and most of that time I had no plumbing and wasn’t able to be at home. I should have consulted with you on strategy! I should have been more creative!
I had a similar experience recently, it was grim! Walked around for the first time in a long time, and there were bare shelves, lower quality home goods, fun colors replaced with navy and gray - not worth coming back even if I wanted to.
Saying “on top of everything else, the government is slowly weakening my skeleton” sounds insane, and yet…
Two people need to answer for this: Blackburn and Broyles-Aplin.
I honestly think one reason Millennials are so angry about all this is that many of us grew up during the brief period in American history where the official line was that we had won history *because* of our values, and most of us actually internalized that.
I’m also music-first, I think it’s wild when my friends know all the words to the 2nd verse of a song. I enjoy lyrics too but it takes focused repeat listening, they’re just not what grab me.
And Peggy wouldn’t have let that man know peace if he mentioned he was even thinking about it.
I don’t know when their next date is, but if you’re still in Nashville the public library holds periodic “repair fairs”, and the last time I went there were several skilled clothing menders there. I got 2 shirts repaired, and it’s free to the public.
I don’t either! Wouldn’t there be a risk of further injury to the point of irreparable harm? Or maybe she’s already there, and it’s like, your knee is toast, might as well ski on it?
I had a friend who 15ish years ago started her career at a firm run by exclusively older men, and one of them told her he thought it was indecent for a woman to eat a banana in public. She couldn’t even pack a lunch without being sexualized and made to feel uncomfortable.
Streets are mostly clear, but the path between the house and my car is solid ice and very treacherous. My mom and I were going to get groceries, but she didn’t feel safe crossing, so we stood on opposite sides of the ice patch yelling our plans and I had to go without her like in Land Before Time.
My Little Caesar’s take is that it’s not the best pizza I’ve ever had, but it is the best $5 pizza I’ve ever had.
The gospel
I don’t want to hear anything from an elected official unless it’s a plan to defund the DHS and impeach Noem, Bovino, etc. No texts. No emails. No talk about the economy. Step up or step off.
This is exactly what I expect of elected officials in this moment - counter-legislation, and loudly and clearly declaring values. The political calculus might be different at the national level, but the right thing to do is the right thing to do.
His not being impeached by the end of the business day as a result of this threat is as much a problem as the threat itself. It’s not just Trump that the world has to worry about, it’s a GOP that supports him and Democrats who suck their thumbs and refuse to even discuss pushing to remove him
They won’t ever go down this road because it necessitates them grappling with how their pre-2016 selves helped pave the way for this moment. They won’t admit they peddled this poison.
It’s time for leaders to either put up or shut up, and history will remember.
