We interrupt your regularly scheduled doomscrolling for this quad-espresso timeline cleanse.
#DoomscrollingBreak
I'm sure this is fine.
Honestly, we need dedicated computer skills courses again instead of constant tech. Like actual typing instruction, how to use word processing, how to create a filing system. And then class sets of textbooks for other classes. More books in general. Ffs.
This is excellent and it brings up something I am noticing, especially amongst Xennial men: AI overuse*. It's like they are half drunk and are mad I won't drink the magic Kool-aid. It's cooking their brains and they are clueless.
(*all AI use is bad, I am referring here to them using it nonstop)
“I used AI to combine the data from two excel lists and then send emails to people who were on one list but not another. Saved me so much time.”
My brother in academia, you just fucking discovered mail merge. Welcome to early nineties computing.
I've been burned so many times.
I dreamed I was snorkeling in the Arctic with people trying to save krill. No idea why. But the way things go in dreams, the krill were actually huge red shrimp and I was swimming in a massive cloud of them and they were so gross with so many legs.
I really need a good sleep tonight. I've had a couple nights where I left the imaginary TV on in my brain and I dreamed wild and ridiculous dreams all night that left me feeling unrested in the morning.
I need that TV off. Or at least set to static.
Two Mourning Doves at a bird feeder with a built-in camera. One dove is in profile, very close to the camera, and appears to be looking at it, and the other dove is further back, but also looks like it’s staring straight into the lens.
These two Mourning Doves at my feeder cam look like they just rang my doorbell because Tony Soprano sent them to collect a debt I owe.
I just saw a local ad for a jewelry place and cringed so hard I may have fused some vertebrae.
Why did they think their awkward, Marge-Simpson-quality, original hip-hop vocals would sell jewelry?
I guess I should at least be grateful they weren't beatboxing.
Sending you a hug.
Ha! This tooth fairy chucks them in the trash!
My 8yo just had an emotional breakdown over deciding whether to leave his tooth for the tooth fairy or to keep it "to remember when I was little and my teeth came out."
Kids, man.
I'm sorry you're stuck with bad options. I haven't found anything to work for the irritability, myself, but I'm lucky enough to work from home... Probably the only reason I'm still employed 😬
Orange fluffy cat inside my car.
I have to go to work and this is not my cat.
The medication game sucks so much. Always having to trade off with whichever side effects come with the little relief.
They can climb trees! I've heard a few stories about folks being surprised by groundhogs who are not on the ground where they should be!
3 easy steps!
stop posting, you're disturbing the cats
If @mcgill.ca treasures our former relationship so much that they keep writing to me asking for money, then I can write to them and tell them this is bullshit.
The first panel shows a crow with the title "How to live a good life". The second panel shows a crow cawing at itself in the mirror with the subheading "Make friends". The next panel says "Explore" and shows a crow looking into a commercial waste bin. The next says "Try new things" with a crow eating something vile. The next one says "Be curious" and shows the crow grabbing a hissing cat's tail". The final frame says "Get a hobby" and shows the crow looking closely at a book of matches.

The babies aren't the ones with the resistance genes! Wording it this way adds to people's misunderstanding of what antibiotic resistance actually is.
Yeah, the only reason little boys don't play or act in a way that shows "parental instinct" is because we tend to shame it out of them damn quick.
My boys loved their baby dolls.
I,for one, am sooooo tired of dystopias. So many movies, TV series, sci-fi novels (especially YA sci-fi novels) are dystopian. Literature and art inspire people for the future and the current scene is not what that inspires much hope.

Done!
In hindsight wowwwwww drinking culture was f'd up back when I was of clubbing age.
Please help G's capstone project. She developed this without any input from her parents who are (more) a little invested in this work!
Photo of a longhaired tortie cat lying on a sunny sidewalk with grass lawn on either side. It has a round little dark object in front of it, a toy maybe.
Photo from my collection, writing on the back says “General Nuisance. Summer 1954”.
My little neighborhood crow murder just chased off a huge red-tailed hawk, and it was awesome to watch.
